CHurch in Basel?

Hey there.

I am looking to find a charismatic (happy clappy) church in Basel, are there any? Hillsong music or something upbeat with a good message?

Any help would be good thanks.

Craigh

English speaking? Yes, I heard there is one, but I don't recall the name.

This website has a directory of churches. You can probably find it there:

Let me know if you can't. I'll look it up for you.

thanks for your help/ Yup def need it in english lol

I know Internation Christian Fellowship in Zurich is very upbeat and uses a lot of Hillsong music. They also have a number of bands and publish their own music. I think one of their services are in English. Perhaps they have a Basel affiliate:

Yes, there is icf Basel ( www.icf-basel.ch ), which is very similar to Hillsong and have English translation on all services.

If you have any questions, let me know!

Phos, the "completeness of the record", here are the icf in Switzerland that have English services:

- Zürich: 11am with headset translation, 5pm with English (as main language) on stage

- Geneva: 10:30am english translation on stage

- Basel: 10:30am and 7:30pm with headset translation

- St. Gallen: 7pm with headset translation

Guys you are brilliant thank you.

Will look into it on Sunday.

Went to ICF basel at 10h30 but they said they only have English at 18h30 at night which sucked a bit!

Will try again next week. Thanks again guys.

That's not so bad, considering services in English are not available.

I've never been there. Maybe I'll join you next week, or the following week.

hi just saw ur post about an english speakin church,we go to crossroads, its wonderful, full of expats from all over e world.you can goole it,e website is www.crossroadsbasel.ch , hope it helps.

Tariro, thanks for the information, just to let you know though, your link is "broken" (no break after .ch)... so I fixed it in my quote.

Meanwhile, I went to that site (I r smrt!) and noticed this which I think is quite valuable info as well:

http://www.crossroadsbasel.ch/web/content/view/10/19/

I think folks who enjoy the community of a church may feel more comfortable learning German with others from their community.

thanx for correcting my link, its a great church,im enjoying it there, hope you will too.i ope to start the german lessons next year as well and they are free.

there is also the English-speaking Basel Christian Fellowship www.baselfellowship.org Service starts at 10:30 am

Basel Christian Fellowship - traditional evangelical - not charismatic - English only services. A mixture of traditional and modern worship. Congregation of about 100.

Crossroads International - more modern evangelical, not particularly charismatic. English only services. Modern songs.

Oikos International church - Swiss church, preaching (usually) in English, with translation into German, and simultaneous translation into French and Italian. Charismatic, modern worship. Links with IHOP.

There's a German charismatic church in Lörrach run by an American couple that has simultaneous translation into English. It's called "Open Door", IIRC, but I can't find the web site.

BCF has about 100 members, the other three over 200.

you are a well of information thank you

Hey Craigh,

Just saw this - did you actually find a good church? I just moved to Basel last Sunday and I am looking for an English speaking modern church. Would love if you could share your experience with me Thanks J

Except that I understand that BCF has a larger membership now, and Crossroads slightly smaller, it's pretty much still the same as on my last posting.

Hey Jeannettestr

How did you go? Im also new in Basel.

Hey Martin - I am sorry I just saw your reply. I am really bad with all the stuff on the Forum - don't really get it ....

I finally went to Crossroads and I actually really liked it. Will go again this Sunday. I am coming from a 5000 member church we had five different services on Sunday mornings - so it's a huge difference but I liked the pastor and the music was ok too.

So how is Basel treating you so far? Have you gotten use to it? Where are you from? I am still trying to meet new people and stuff which is really challenging here ... Let me know if you went to a different church.

J
