Ci Permit employment prospects

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum. My wife and I are moving to Geneva later this year. She has been offered a position in one of the international organisations and as far as we know, I would be able to apply for a Ci work permit.

Just a few words about myself. I speak fluent Japanese and English, but not a word of French. I am a charted accountant with experience in Big 4 and large corporate.

I read from this forum that Ci application process could be off-putting for many employers, and this combined with my lack of French proficiency make us very worried about my job prospects.

Any food for thought? Any advice about Ci application and job market in Geneva will be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Assuming she is getting a normal Carte de legitimation of normal duration and is not short term nor contractor, the rights of her dependents, i.e. you to get Ci are more or less automatic and straightforward. It gives you working rights and makes it easier for the company to hire you as they don't have to go through the non-EU process. The big 4 should have definitely experience with Ci and should not be an impediment, rather the opposite. At a small company you may need to explain to them what a Ci is, but otherwise they should not have to do much.
