[Clubs] no entry fee - Basel

Hi,

Are there any clubs in Basel with no entry fee?

Thanks

You mean like a night club or a sports/social club ?

I meant clubbing

Define in your words what clubbing means to you. Then the discussion will not go around in circles.

Clubbing with no entry fee...could be hard to find.

As far as clubs go the main ones i know of are :

-Garage

-Hinterhof

-Sud

-Nordstern

-Kaserne

-SommerCasino

-Halle Sieben

What kind of music are you into mainly ? There is a good selection of house/techno and also reggae/dancehall in Basel.

Clubbing as in Neanderthal man style bashing over the head with a piece of wood or clubbing as in the English half dressed in the middle of winter with too much alcohol kind. Lol. And in Switzerland not much is for free. But if you find some let me know. Wishing you luck and a great night out

Forgot to mention last time - this webiste has all the club listings.

I note with interest there is a student night tonight playing 80s and 90s in Garage - 5CHF entry with a free drink - that is about as cheap as it gets round these parts tbh

;-)

I'm getting old. I don't know what half the stuff on that page means?

"Famine, Dog Eggs. Oldschool hardcore, grindviolence"? Individually, I can see what each word means. But as an ensemble; well, I'm out of my depth

I think accoustic blues and ragtime might be more my scene.

Nothing like putting on a short skirt & tight shirt and dancing to some ragtime.

Is that like a disco?

All the classics. Blacklace, Come On Eileen, Chris Rea, Locomotion, Star Trekkin, Chumbawumba.

That's my plan.

Dance round your handbags

Balz Bar

Paddy's Irish Pub

All the mentioned above are probably with entry-fee.

www.denkmal.org is a good site to see what's going on.

Yeah Paddy's is free, but it's not a club, it is a "pub".

It is a sad excuse for an Irish pub with the sole goal of taking your money in return for mediocre food, drinks and service.

It is the *only* Irish bar in Basel which is quite a sad state of affairs tbh, most pubs in Ireland are welcoming places, Paddy's is not.

IL

I see it more as a club since on a friday-saturday it is packed and you feel like a sardine in a can.

On the rest I have to agree with you.

On topic:

Basel is not really a clubbing town.

Nordstern on thursday is free as well.

All depends who you know that works there i suppose and it does become a crowded minging sweat pit by midnight on friday and saturday.

You still end up stinking of smoke because some cabbage put vents from the smoking area into the non smoking area.

Right on the money there - a proper establishment would treat all its customers the same, but Paddy's doesn't.

I don't understand them having a smoking area at all tbh, they may as well let people smoke inside.

Was there one evening and a woman used her stool in the smoking area to prop open the door into the pub.

You should probably completely ignore my opinions on the place though - I am but a bitter Irishman upset at places like this "representing" the Irish abroad.

Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to like Paddy's when I got here. I've given it enough chances now, I know Basel is a small place but I would rather burn the money than give it to them.

I agree with you, i guess you take it a bit more personally than me, its just another pub to most.
