Coffee and Climate Change

Due to climate changes, coffee, like chocolate, is costing more than ever. Already roasters are claiming that the beans have gotten too expensive and want to pass on the cost. So perhaps, it would be wise to pick up some extra next time out hunting for groceries.

My coffee beans cost the same for 10 years now! During which the same thing about lack/price rise etc. was reported on regular basis and I think prices did rise at supermarkets, so I wonder if they put that rumour/info out there over the years.
I won’t blame my roaster if they rise prices after such a long time and I think panic buying is counterproductive.

Strangely Switzerland is the world’s third largest coffee exporter although not one bean is grown here.
Maybe they buy such large quantities they can stabilise local prices.

That’s probably the Nespresso capsules and copycats. Including Migros Industries subsidiary Delica, Europe’s largest producer of retailers’ own-branded capsules (according to NZZ).
