coffee houses *like* Starbucks in Geneva?

I've never been so can't vouch, but there's a "Central Perk" (a la Friends) at Plainpalais.

Is there any McCafe in Geneva, besides the one in Rue Lausanne? In that one there is almost no place to sit and relax, that's what I look for in any Starbucks

Don’t know. I’ve been in the one in Bienne a couple of times, but that’s all.

Is that next to the Starbucks in Bienne? I've never been to either but seem to recall them being next to each other in the pedestrian zone.

The only McCafe I've been to us the one at Westside in Bern and that had some nice comfy sofas IIRC.

That's right. I lived not far from there and used to go to the flea market quite a lot and never went in there. It looked cute, though.

There's another Pain Quotidian up the street about 5 blocks, direction river.

Yes, it’s a bit sneaky on McD’s side. Starbucks and then right next door is McDonalds with a McCafe there as well. They have a few seats near the entrance if you want to sit downstairs, or you can take your coffees/pastries, etc, upstairs.

Totally agree. I am based in inner city, and find myself visiting a few different spots but this is my favourite. relaxed, great coffee, and you don't feel rushed to get out.

I've been to various including Starbucks. Despite the fact that Starbucks probably have the worst coffee in town, there really isn't any place that offers you the ability to occupy a lounge for hours upon hours and surf free web.

There is of course Boreal downtown - but it's further away. Great coffee, excellent WiFi (for free) and the ability to kick back for hours. (and..... Open Sundays

There is one excellent coffee shop with free wifi in Paquis area, in betweenTram stop Mole and Place de Navigation. It is called Viverra Coffee. The place is very cozy and they serve nice coffee drinks. Aside from typical drinks like lattés and cappucino, they have a wide selection of coffee drinks inspired by coffees around the world. They also have regular art expositions

Boreal have opened up at Eaux-Vives which is excellent as it's close to home.

p.s. - anyone have any recommendations for a best place in GVA terminal to get a caffeine fix?? I'm heading there today.

Thanks for the suggestion, I live in the quarter but never noticed this place, I guess it's quite new. I'll definitely check it out soon!

ps: Rue du Mole 22 in case anyone is interested (just saved you one Google search )

There's also the Cafè des Artistes in Paquis, which has comfy seating.
