coffee houses *like* Starbucks in Geneva?

I confess I haven't really looked hard myself, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me of a coffee place like Starbucks--

Armchairs and couches, large espresso drinks (not the tiny shots served in tea houses), pastries and a staff that doesn't mind if you're there for a few hours reading or something

thanks

the prize for the most predictable answer goes tooooooooooo..........

Try Barnes and Noble.

There are at least three Starbucks in Geneva, one at the Plainpalais tram stop, one on Quai des Bergues (rive droite, by the Pont de la Machine) and one at the railway station end of Rue de Mont Blanc (next to the H&M in the pedestrian part).

Geneva doesn't have a Barnes and Noble!

Google Starbucks Geneva and you will find....

Perhaps the OP doesn't want to support Starbucks and is looking for a small local business alternative?

Pointless answer, though

I like Le Pain Quotidien, boulevard Helvétique 21. It's not really like Starbucks. They don't have huge beverages, but it's just a nice place have a coffee and to hang out for a bit.

There’s always a McCafe.

Knock it, as you will, but some of the most drinkable, mass produced coffee, I've drank, is from MickeyD's in US.

Is it the same as Le pain quotidien in Belgium. I used to really like going to one of those for a coffee and their bread was pretty awesome too.

What's wrong with McCafe? The coffee and snacks are just as good as Starbucks (in my eyes), it's cheaper than Starbucks, chairs are comfortable, no-one minds if you're there a long time... and staff are much better than the Starbucks people at drawing pretty patterns with the caramel on top of my caramel lattes!

My friends just opened a cafe in geneva which is just what you are after. The coffee is as good as you'd find in Melbourne (one of the owners is an aussie), and everyone speaks english:

Cafe Relish,

22 Boulevard du Pont d'Arve

1205 Geneva, Switzerland

Their coffee is actually better then Starbucks not that that is saying much

i should add (for those who haven't had a coffee in Melbourne) its way better starbucks!

Yes. There was one in Lausanne as well. But they closed.

Actually there are 3 in Geneva now and 3 in Zurich.

Thanks, Mia....that's great.

Interesting question. Maybe the Swiss aren't very entrepreneurial to come up with something like that!

Hey, I tried!! At least I didn't say "if you want Starbucks you're going to have to go to Starbucks"......

And for the record, I like Starbucks. So I just go to Starbucks!

An alternative to Starbucks but still in town
