College or Ausbildung?

Hi guys,

so as you may be aware form my other threads recently I am looking at changing career direction or in fact going back to college full time (I'm already studying with the Open University). Does anyone have 1st hand experience on doing an Ausbildung in Switzerland or do you know someone who wasn't swiss that did one? Also I am not sure if an Ausbildung or college would be better to do. I have found a few possibilities in both which I would like to pursue but am not sure which is the better option in terms or career prospects in the future.

For an Ausbildung, does anyone know if the qualification is recognized outside Switzerland? This would probably be a big factor in my decision as I cannot guarantee that I will work forever here.

Is there other courses other than Business and Hotel Bachelor degrees, that are taught in english? The courses I am looking at are in German, would have to pass an entrance exam before admission level is between B1-B2

If I did a Bachelor of Science Business Administration (International Management) what would job prospects be like in Switzerland? What could I end up doing?

Thanks again for all you help

Hi,

I'm not a specialist in this field, but my 2 cents are:

As you want to study in Switzerland, study something which is officially recognized in Switzerland.

Why? 1) It will facilitate job search if you want to stay in Switzerland. 2) The Swiss education system is of an overall good quality.

Second thing to think about : be sure your studies have some Bologna scheme value (google with Bologna Process).

Why? 1) If going abroad for a job, it'll be possible for your future employer to understand what your diploma means. 2) The Swiss diplomas are considered to be of good quality.

Why not try your MBA as you mentionned and go back into the aircraft world.

But nobody can tell you what you could end up doing. I know a guy who is a doctor in theology and he ended up an ambassador. It's all about opportunity, right spot-right place and perseverance in the meanders of live, methinks.
