Combining Ikea online and in store purchase

Hi, I'm going to buy a lot of furniture from Ikea and I want to have them

deliver the items to my house. But some of the things that I want cannot be

ordered online.

Has anybody tried to combine an internet order and an in-store order into

one order and one delivery? I will try to call them monday about this but I

wanted to know if anybody has tried this?

The items that cannot be ordered online won't add up to CHF 825.

(delivery fee is 12% or minimum of CHF 99). So if I do this in one

order it will save me some money.

thanks

Haven't tried what you are asking, but I think you are better off if you order everything at the store. Not sure what the advantage is for ordering on line. Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with Mrs. D. If you have to go to the store anyway, you are better off just ordering everything there.

Good luck!

Hi, I'm ordering enough furniture to fill a 5 room house. And I'm doing

this by myself. It would be extremely difficult to load and push around

5-6 shopping carts full of things and get through the cashier by myself and

then take the carts to the delivery desk.

Unless there's an in-store department where I can just give them the list

of things I want and pay for it without going through the warehouse and

grab the items myself? Do they provide this service?

The online store is like that. But it doesn't have all the things I want.

thanks,

DavidSJC

I think you can take your shopping list and order it in store for delivery...did you create a shopping list from the online catalog? I'm ordering a wardrobe with many pieces and I will know better after Tuesday.. Am taking my einkaufliste with me to the store. The stuff you can't order online all seems to be small stuff you might pick up by hand.

I have created a shopping list, yes. Please let me know how your wardrobe

order process goes!

Thank you!

David

I agree with David - it would be incredibly useful to do this as I was supplied by some of the items that can't be ordered online. A living room chair for example...

However, you can take your shopping list to the warehouse and for something like 100CHF they will pick all of your items out of the racks for you, meaning you don't have to do all of the loading yourself.

Hope this helps.

There's an online shopping list that you can print out and take to the store with everything on it. For small things and kids storage, Ikea is great.

We filled our first flat with Ikea and needed to start replacing everything a couple of years later. Dining chairs we needed to keep screwing back together and the table broke (it was stapled together at a critical point) and we had it repaired while we waited for a better one. The worst thing was lugging all the stuff into the van and then into out flat and assembling it only to have to do it all over again when we had to replace it

Hey Morose, do you know if this service where you take your shopping list to the store and they pick it up off the racks and deliver it to your apartment is what they refer to as "Express delivery" ("livraison express sous 24h" in French)? I've heard of other people booking taxis or vans from customer services, but it would be a lot easier to not have to wheel beds etc around the store! I'm hoping they do this at the Aubonne store.

Hummm..... You know, I always thought that you could bring your list and put in your delivery order from the customer service desk. This certainly is true for the "big items". But now you have me wondering: What is it that is not available through the online system? Are they big things that are just not available or are they small things like pillows & cups, cutlery?

It might actually be that the small things you will have to go pick up yourself so that would mean one order online and one actual shopping trip.

Seems there is more to the question than meets the eye!

Yes, there is, here is the link, sorry, only in German. It is called the Einkaufsservice, only available M - F., 10 - 18. It is fee based.

To follow up on my own thread. I put in a big order online. It generated

an email saying that my order will be delivered around mid december.

I need the furniture next week. So that won't do.

I ended up going to Ikea. I pulled the items myself and hauled it through

the cashier and then to the delivery area. 6 cart loads, one cart

at a time. Oh man, those things are so heavy. Paid for delivery which is

12% of the value of the items. They delivered it the next day.

Only the leather sofa is not here. Apparently leather sofas have a 4-6 week

lead time. And the delivery fee is included in the price of the sofa. Lessons

learned, if you ever need furniture in a hurry, do not put in an internet

order. Just go there and pull the boxes yourself and take it to the delivery

area.

Good to know. Never made it it Ikea this week, but we don't want the stuff till mid- December. So I might as well do the order online. Thanks.

hey,

also check everything properly and keep the bill copy, onc ei got stuff from ikea and it was defective, had to go back with the defective parts and they repalced it, but had to go 2 times.
