Companies using OpenText Livelink

Hi all,

I am looking at moving from my present job and I am updating my CV. The main IT platform for the collaboration in my field is OpenText's Livelink.

Are there many organiztions/companies in Switzerland that use Livelink? It may be a good starting point as to where I send my CV.

Thanks

Chester

There are many. UBS for one uses livelink.

Ah Livelink. The hot potato which has done the rounds - ownership lasts about 1 year before it gets dumped onto someone else

Thanks Gooner and Lob,

I'm heartened to hear that its not just me that uses/struggles with Livelink. I first used it four years ago and it took me ages to get used to as I had always worked in a windows environment. I didnt really like it at first but as I got used to it, I began to see the point of and Im hoping that it will stand me in good stead.

Lob- in what ways is it a hot potato? Where I work we have decided to do more and more with Livelink with closer ties to OpenText

Hi,

there are certainly quite a few companies in Switzerland that use LiveLink, however, quite a few of them are also looking to replace it or limit it's usage to the archiving and records management capability. There is an increasing number of companies are looking at alternatives such as Sharepoint. If you work in the area of collaboration it is certainly a technology to get experience in. Of course there still quite a few firms who use Lotus Notes as well.

Have fun

Martin

sharepoint is not comparible to livelink. For document management, it is actually pretty good.

UBS......livelink or DocWeb as the end user knows it has been passed from pillar to post in the area of support and development. My old team build in the interface which allowed persauth cards and NIS+ to be used to authenticate....we then passed on the product to *anyone* else!

Also, they don't have a process that encourages the use of livelink or docweb. I found heaps of technical info, but all of it years old. I worked at Unilever, who had used livelink properly for content management. I've never seen it used properly. People want files in folders and subfolders so that the knowledge can get dusty before it dies.

This is one of the applications of how its used at ISO for managing the process of producing International Standards

Hi All,

If anyone looking for a Solution in Document Management & Records Management ONLY if it's Easy to use & works .... then one stop solution is "LASERFICHE".

Also, there is a company in Zurich who are Swiss representatives of it, call them for they give you Free Demo after analyzing your needs.

One Word for Laserfiche... "IT WORKS".
