I have been tested positive for Covid and just recovered. Do I still need to take the booster vaccine and if yes, what will be the suggested period between my recovery and my booster injection?
I ask my family doctor and my family doctor asked me to ask the Zurich canton. The Zurich canton then ask me to contact my family doctor.
Some of the news on the website even suggest that if I recover from Covid, I do not need to take the booster vaccine.
I will have to check, but I remember reading that it all depends on the covid certificate and what you want to do. But I might be thinking about something I read from Germany.
I thought the certificate was valid longer after you get a booster, than from recovering from Covid.
It is a little disconcerting that your Dr says to check with the canton, and the canton says to go back to your Dr.
My wife had Covid in December. She was able to schedule an appointment to get the booster, but the doctor there refused to vaccinate her, saying that she should wait for 4 months.
Congrats! You now have hybrid immunity. However, many on the forefront of the pandemic say it's not a bad idea to get a booster, especially if you time it to maximize your immunity "coverage." Here's what NPR has to say:
Get the jab, very little downside, particularly if you’ve had the first two. Peace of mind, if nothing else. No doubt there will be a waiting period.
I had the booster a couple of weeks after having Covid with no issues. I did not mention that I'd had covid however. I decided I'd rather have the vaccine on my record than a recovery as not all countries recognise recovery for entry when travelling.
If you aren't planning on going abroad and have 3G on your phone, you may want to wait on getting the booster. The way things look now, it may not be needed in a few months.
Was it a test done at home, or were you officially tested positive? I was in December and have had my online COVID pass updated to reflect that. I doubt they would do that based just on a home test.
Phone the BAG helpline if in doubt. +41 58 463 00 00.
