I’m trying to get some information about whether there is any risk I will be penalised and my benefits will be withheld as my wife and I will be leaving CH in January.
My useless RAV advisor wants me to take part in a work program for 3 months which is completely geared towards finding work in the Swiss labor market. I have been looking for work abroad where we will be moving but I really don’t think this program would be a good use of my time or the RAV’s money.
While we are definitively leaving in 4 months, I worry that if I notify my advisor now that I will be deregistering from the RAV at the end of January, they could withhold benefits as I am not really available to work in the Swiss market. I know for EU citizens they can continue to collect if they return to an EU/EFTA country while looking for work locally. I am not an EU citizen but have been living in CH for the last 8 years and hold a valid B permit.
Does any one have any insight into this? I’d greatly appreciate it as I really don’t know how to proceed.
RAV adviser is far from useless. The same rules apply to you as everyone else - you need to be actively seeking employment in the Swiss market or with permission seeking work else where in the EEA. If you want the cash, you need to play by the rules.
Why not? There are temporary or high personnel rotation jobs where you can work for 4 months. So, a lot less questions from RAV if you get a contract to start a new job abroad, and work in anything in CH until then, even partial time.
Also, there’s is no obligation to register to RAV in both Swiss Civil and Criminal codes.
It’s a program through the SAG Stiftung. There are subprograms, for instance, to improve one’s German for the workplace (I won’t need this as I’m moving to an English speaking country) or certification programs (there is less focus and importance placed on work training certificates where I will be moving).
Does anyone have any experience with the SAG Stiftung programs or heard anything, good or bad? Very minimal information on the web about peoples experiences.
