My current contract ends in January 2024, I came to Switzerland in August 2021. Undoubtedly, I’m currently looking for a new job and actively interviewing; and hopefully I’ll manage to find something within the next six months or so.
My current B permit will also expire in January 2024. In the worst case scenario, if I couldn’t find a job by then, can my B permit be extended to continue looking for a job? Can I also get the benefits from the unemployment insurance that I’ve been paying since August 2021, i.e. for the past 21 months? Also, I’m a non-EU citizen.
It might because it would have been issued for a specific project for that employer so RAV might not be willing to take the permit on in that case. But if it’s open, i.e. not tied to an employer, they may be more willing to if they think you have a good chance of getting another job here.
Also, another question, I may have verbally been offered a job with a different company. Do you know how easy it is to simply switch employer before my permit expires?
