Cost of specialist examination by cardiologist

Hi all,

Does anyone have an idea of what the rough cost of a cardiologist examination might be?

I soon have to have a stress/activity ECG (ECG while cycling hard on a bike) and a separate 24-hour ECG, to check the functioning of my heart. I reckon it'd probably take 1 to 2 hours in total.

No idea how much the going rate is in CH - does anybody have any experience?

I suggest you call a few cardiologists and ask what they charge. Maybe your insurance would even cover it.

I once had to wear a 24-hour EKG, but I'm not sure what they charged, since my insurance was billed. It was through Zurich University hospital.

Is it really that important ?

If you feel it necessary then the cost is really insignificant. I would guess soemwhere around Chf 1'000.-- for 1-2 hours

Agreed, screw the cost, it was 720 Chuff's for me, worth every Rappen simply for the peace of mind.

Thanks for the replies - obviously, if it needs doing then I don't care so much how much it costs, it's just that I am with Assura and so I'll only get the money back at the end of the year, after I submit all my bills. Hence need to do a bit of budgeting

ETA: just to give a bit of background, I'm a child of the blessed National Health Service in the UK, so I really have not the foggiest clue how much is normal to pay for such things, in Switzerland or anywhere else!

Don't suppose anybody has recommendation for cardio doctor around Nyon, or between Lausanne - Geneva. English speaker ?

I presented today to a walkin place with a BP 211/110, they ECG'd me and all seemed fine, numbers went down after some tablet but they said i should go see a specialist to find the reason and do some full checks.

(i take my BP regularly and it's usually way better at around 135/75)

Do you have a GP? You'll get a much faster appointment if s/he sends you. Sorry, can only recommend someone in Neuchâtel (Dr Giroud).

My GP is on holiday until 14th, and not taking appointments until 18th, so I'm not likely to get an appointment until a bit after that. Incidentally, her husband (I assume as he has same name in same practice) is a cardio.. So I probably would get a quick appointment.

But if i can get on quicker I would take it.

Well here is a list, but can't recommend anyone in particular. Hope someone comes forward, and bonne chance.
