I have to go for an abdominal ultrasound scan next week, and was just wondering if anyone has had a similar procedure and what sort of cost to expect? I'm a little worried that I'm going to be stuck with a huge bill and knowing this in advance would cushion the blow at least a little... Thanks!
I meant how much will the charge be? I mean, my deductible is 1000CHF so I know worst case scenario it will be 1700CHF but I sincerely hope it's not that much! I was looking for a more accurate figure from someone who's had one... whether it's 100, 500 etc... (up to 1000 will have to come out of my own pocket - gulp!).
EDIT: Wrote this before yacek's reply - that's more the kind of information I was looking for! I was expecting maybe 300CHF, massively hope it's not as much as 500CHF but we'll see.
Looking over the bill I have from an abdominal scan and gastroendoscopy... the total came to 718; unfortunately I don't have the detail - so I don't know how much was the scan, how much the endoscopy.
I'd guess that the largest part was for the endoscopy - so maybe 2-300 for the ultrasound?
Yeah, that's about what I was expecting. Thanks for the help! I was so worried about getting a ridiculous bill that I would have no hope of paying, but a simple ultrasound seems like it would be ok. Panic subsided!
I also should note that this was done at the hospital, not at the Praxis... I don't know if different tariffs apply depending on where it's done, and by whom (GP/Specialist).
Come to think of it, though, my experience has been that stuff done at the hospital is often more reasonable than at the local doc's. Go figure...
I had one done some months ago at the doctor's practice. The total including the consultation was around 270. Had the doctor sent me to an specialist to perform the ultrasound the cost would have been higher.
I was going to suggest a trip to KFC after the scans but I changed my mind after grynch said he wanted to go head hunting too. Not sure I could stomach all that in one day.
