Cost to service a water tank?

Hi all, we have a hot water tank in the house and I need to get it serviced. nothing wrong with it as far as I'm aware, just a regular checkup. this is the first time so not sure of the pricing. I've been quoted 600 which I think is too high, so wondering if anyone has done this already and has a ballpark figure ?

thanks

Mike

It does seem high but then what service in Switzerland doesn't? Would they be de-scaling it and when was the last time it was done?

Sounds a little on the high side, basiscally they come, drain the tank (what size is it by the way.....) you may or may not need a new anode, it is usual to replace at de calcification time (detartrage) the joints will need to be replaced and the calcium depoists removed from the boiler.

It's not difficult to do yourself, unless you end up with a leak, parts will cost between Chf 150-300.-- depending type of boiler, size of boiler, and amount of FYT applied, plus labour and travelling, 2 hours approx ??

best is go to https://www.ofri.ch , submit the 'ask' and get an offers. Nothing works better than competition .

For 600 francs I'd like to know what they are doing, eg how many hours of work, what parts they'll replace etc. Even for round here it's a lot.

My hotwater tank had been de-scaled by Swisskalk in the past and when I needed it done again I saw their website said something like CHF300-350. But I won't recommend them, they were hard to reach on the phone just to get an appointment so I ended up doing it myself, wasn't complicated but you need tools, know/how etc.
