Hi there, I am a fully qualified and expereinced counsellor now living and working in Switzerland. My wesbite is www.expatcounselling.com

Kind regards

As a matter of interest, do you have different counsellors for different problems?

My friend is a counsellor for alcohol and drugs problems and terminally ill people. He had to get experience in the specific subject matters and specializes only in these topics.

That is a good question because some counsellors call themselves Child Counsellors for example when they have no formal qualifications.

Also it is easy for anyone to get a qualfiication but you need to check it is a recognised and approved one. Usually in the UK this can be checked by the Brititsh Association of Counselling. In Switzerland I am unsure.

For your interest I am a fully qualified Adult Counsellor and also Child Behaviour Therapsit. I have BA (hons) degrees in both specialities.

I also have 20 years experience in NHS mental health. Like your friend I am also qualified in several other sub catagories such as being a bereavement counsellor, post traumtic stress, relationship counsellor.

I see clients with a wide variety of problems from stress, depression to more severe problems such as mental illness.

I have an article in a UK leading magazine "Brand New You" this month as the mind mentor - so if you are able to get hold of a copy you can get a flavour of how I work.

Also if you visit the all4kids website or the link below you can read an

article I wrote on supporting bereaved children.

Hope this helps

Kind regards caroline

Note that the focus of psychological counseling empowers clients to cope with challenging life circumstances and does not require an illness. Therefore, disclosure to your insurance provider is not necessary (which can create a risk). On the other side, the principle of self-payment applies, with a few rare exceptions.
