Hi all,
I am in the process of setting my SARL, and went through the online process for opening a capital deposit account at CS, with the inetention to open a Start Up Easy Account once the company is registered.
In the process I have had to call their helpline number and am usually greeted by non-Swiss sounding staff - as they are a bit ‘nose in the air’ kind of attitude. Yesterday was the worst with some Philipino (Definitely not Indian) sounding woman literally shouting at me for my incomprehension as how a person form the onboarding team read on tuesday the email reply i had sent on wednesday. Finally she realised her mistake (she meant thursday), and offered a very perfunctory aplogy, but my main problem is this :
-
Lady @ helpline / CS website are not able to commit AT ALL as to how many days it will take CS to open this capital deposit account?
-
Once I have deposited the capital, how many days does CS usually take to dispatch the Attestation?
-
Once I am a regular customer, how is the CS experience especially in terms of reachability as well as hidden costs?
Thank you all in advance for your replies.
sva
Generally you will need to go through the KYC process first and that can take days/weeks depending on how big their team is.
They emailed me after four days of the online application asking for a copy of my permit and my CV which I sent by email. I did not hear from them for three days after that. My question is, is there something more to the normal KYC at Credit Suisse or is it going to be a very long winded step-by-step process?
Credit Suisse is the worst managed bank in Switzerland (read the news or look at the share price). Better go somewhere else.
I gave up on the big banks when I started my business and went to a Kantonal bank, much quicker and friendlier.
Go with a smaller bank, they are far more attuned to your type of business than the big ones
What do you expect for 5 Francs a month? I'm not being funny. They don't have people sitting around ready to act on your mails and give their full attention to going through the KYC process for you. The budget offering is attractive to the likes of yourself and dozens take it, but not for the bank, about 90% will fail or cost them money, so they are not going to invest in it.
Either up the fee you want to pay or see if a smaller bank is willing to deal with you.
I have been with the cantonal BCF bank since 2010 - for both my business as well as salary account. But the BCV seemed a bit inaccesible. Also the main point is that CS has a branch in india where my business will be from, so I thought i'd give it a go.
Pont taken.
TIS where WYS is not WYG.
They should not promise something if they cant deliver. Its called ethics.
So what was the commitment? Do you have it in writing?
You are soooo right!!!
CS did not expressly state on their website that they will treat me equally like a higher paying client.
In fact on the website they even offer the first year for free - but you should know this - since you seem to work there - and are putting up such a valiant defense.
FYI
Upton Sinclair — 'It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.'
I don't work there, I'm retired. But I was a professional accountant at one time and I have realist expectations - 60 Frances won't buy you much. Trying to run a business will knock a lot of the edges off.
Postfinance offers an account where they waive the account management fees with e-finance for two years and a free credit card for one year (VISA) But only for a EUR or CHF account.

They don’t offer small business banking from India though, so not sure what advantage it would give.
The advantage is that Indian Rupee is not an 'exotic currency' for CS. In fact CS is the intermediary bank when I send money from BCF to India.
and this :
"In collaboration with our partner Worldline, we are offering you an affordable, simple, and transparent credit card acceptance solution for your online shop. A simple, transparent way for your clients to make purchases in your online shop using a credit card. "
Hence I thought of going directly, without intermediary. Also, the 'first year free offer' to me conveyed a sense that CS does care about small business.
I saw that, but I will need USD at the very least since my clients will be from Asia
Update. HTH.
Called CS again yesterday, and they asked me if I was sure I had made the application.
Arranged with BCF - Form filled up - Got IBAN - funds deposited. Total time three hours.
A cantonal bank in your case is a most wise decision.
Don't know what biz you do but the Cantonal bank network can be very lucrative to plumb into
I have been with BCF since 2010 when I moved here. The only problem (and a biggish one) is that they don’t do INR.
But yes, they were incredibly more responsive than CS.
