Hello again all, my wife (Swiss) and I (American) are getting our docs lined up for family reunification by end of the year when I realized that a traffic offense from 2004 is still on my record, which I noticed when pulling my FBI file. This is no minor traffic stop unfortunately, it resulted in being charged with 5 infractions, 4 of which were dropped however, impounded my car, night in jail etc.
The shows 2 of these, with both stating "Charges Dropped, DROPPED / ABANDONED".
Does anyone know exactly what types of infractions are considered a blocker for admission and long term residence in the country? Ive read a few threads here but dont see anything specific.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been covered, I have searched!
How did this pan out for you? Did that result in being an issue? Did you have to provide the FBI Background check? And if you don't mind me asking which canton?
Following up to see how the criminal background check worked out for you? I have a DISMISSED charge that has also been SEALED but still shows up with the language "sealed" above it, which is annoying.
