CS vs 50 CHF for unnecessary hospital visit

My 2yo hurt her leg two weeks ago at 8pm.

She wouldn't stop crying, SO thought the leg has swollen, so I called the medicenter and they told me to go to the local hospital.

Turns out there was nothing wrong, maybe she just liked the attention, idk.

But I was thinking, if an unnecessary visit to the hospital will soon be 50CHF, should we first start with a Credit Suisse like fund, put in 50 to 100 billion, and once that's exhausted start charging all those awful people who panic and think something is wrong with them so they go to a hospital?

Maybe it’s just me? But I have no idea what you’re on about

Not just you.

Visit wasn’t unnecessary, medical professionals advised you to take her.

If you had gone to treat a hangnail, that would have been unnecessary.

I suspect the new rule, if it is a new rule, is intended for hypochondriacs.

I suspect the OP read this article in Lolcal
https://www.thelocal.ch/20230213/wil…ergency-visits

And in good EF/Lolcal style, waited a month to make a thread about it but didn’t include a link.
And tried to tie in the CS panic, because why not try for a hat trick?

The local is now blocking those with an adblocker. Well their loss, not mine.

What part in the paragraph you wrote makes you think going to the hospital under these circumstances could be deemed as "unnecessary"?

As an expat/economic immigrant you might come across an equivalent expression in your German language courses: “In China ist ein Sack Reis umgefallen.”

Be glad it was just CHF 50. When my son was around 7 or 8 years old he had a bit of a tumble when we were skiing. Complained all afternoon and evening that his knee was sore and he was limping around the hotel. Finally we decided to take him down the road to the local medical centre where they checked him out, X-rayed and checked him with the ultra sound (he was yelping when anyone so much as touched the skin), but they found absolutely nothing.

Turns out he fancied a pair of the snazzy multi-coloured crutches he'd seen some other kid in the hotel with.

Expensive lesson learned.
