Custom penalty - will if affect my current/future permit?

Hello,

Just to introduce, I was stupid today and I got fined at the border for exceeding the limits for carrying the stuff. I just did not read the rules carefully, so I had to pay a fine/penalty ('busse'). Whatever... I did not protest, it was my fault.

But do you know if such case might cause a problem with my stay permit (currently I have the B-permit for 5 years) or will it cause any problems when I will apply for extension in a few years (hopefully)? I don't know if something like that is considered to be a financial crime or something.

A Busse (fine) of less than CHF 5000 has no further consequences.

Great, thank you for a very prompt answer

I had a similar problem and the Customs guy said if I repeated the offence I would get a major penalty.

I asked how long they kept the details and he said six months! I was expecting "lifelong".

I think that they do keep the details forever, since they currently have all those computer systems, but probably they will not make any further problems if you make a mistake once a year or once a 2 years.
