Tried 2 different ones today to get new passport photos done. Had to put 10 francs in to even get the thing running and guess what - couldn’t get a proper picture because couldn’t adjust the seat. Tried the second machine - another 10 francs to start - and even adjusting the seat up and down still couldn’t get the photo to meet the passport criteria so gave up. No way to get money back from either machine either so 20 francs down the drain.
Can they not do more than just tell you the picture doesn’t meet specifications? Why? Am I too high or too low? Eyes not in the right place? For heaven’s sake tell people what the problem is. Don’t just demand money and then say it’s not possible without some way to cancel the photo and get your money back.
You could send them the unusable photos and see if they are kind enough to issue a refund. It will cost you a further Fr. -.85 to post them. Even better email them a scan of the photos.
........and they will simply say, tough shit you weren't sitting right, the seat was wrongly adjusted so all your excellent post does is increase the loss by 8.5%
Not if a scan of them is emailed. Moreover it is not known what they will say until they have said it.
Go get a life, people who own/operate a photo booth don't give a shit, all they are interested in is profit.
Wrong! If a refund as a goodwill gesture is issued, then the customer is more likely to use that company's services again.
Whatever, you know best, is it really worth if for Chf 10.-- maybe for you yes, but for most people we'll bitch sand moan for an hour and forget it, afterall Chf 10.-- really is a small sum to get het up about (for most of us, that is, but if you can't afford it, then......then what ?)
Can you get a refund for getting really really unflattering photos?
And what's worse is when the guy at passport control thinks you look like your photo.
The local pro here does them for CHF 15 a pop, but only on Monday afternoons....
Evidently it is enough for the OP. And it is 20 francs the loss so far, not just 10!
Goodness! What does he do the rest of the time?!
So in 2 different individual machines it didn't work properly so it was the fault of the machine......yeah right !
Chf 20.-- must mean a lot for you i guess
I agree, awful machines and who is that fat old woman that comes out in the photos?
I did not say it was the fault of the machine.
I use the My Photo Pro app. It will make a selfie or portrait into passport size for the country you name.
You know how much tab-water you get for Fr. 10.00 in a restaurant??!!
He pretties up the photos he made on Monday.
Yes, it does when you have no way to get the money back for something you couldn’t get. It’s the principle. I paid for passport photos yet the machines couldn’t find an acceptable shot despite all my efforts to find out what the problem was. The machines were no help except to say that the shot didn’t match the criteria needed and to try again. Iirc, cause it’s been a few years since I had any passport photos done, the machines used to tell you if you were sitting to high or low, etc, but these didn’t so no way to work out what was going wrong. Also you used to have a mirror with the ability to see that you had your face in the right position before you put any money into the machine. These had nothing like that unless you’d paid up first. Only then did you get an image on the screen to line up with.
What I object to most is the lack of any refund capability. If I can’t get the shot right I should be able to get my money back, not have to take a picture regardless or leave the stupid thing endlessly taking shots of a blank wall after I walked out in frustration.
There is always a phone number of the booth someplace. Find it and give them a call for a refund.
Then go to Fribourg and get a passport photo done by a professional. Will cost you CHF 30.- but will be done correctly.
20fr means a lot to everybody I know. Especially for this kind of rip-off.
So if the machine wasn't at fault, why the hell should you expect a refund ?
You’re replying to koblenz’s comment, not mine. I never said the machine was at fault, just that it was a total pain with no helpful info and no way to cancel and get a refund when the numerous attempts to take a photo to meet the passport criteria didn’t work.
Nor do I expect a refund from the company because I doubt I’d get one. I did get photos after all, just not any that are fit for purpose. I’m just complaining about the lack of any cancellation option when, for some unfathomable reason, the machine can’t do want you want it to do. I wanted the option to cancel it as the machine couldn’t tell me why the photo was not correct. I’ve ended up spending 20 francs on totally useless photos because it was take the picture with no way to cancel the process once you’d paid the money right at the beginning.
