The translation of his recent brain scan says he suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage which is a rare type of stroke (can be brought about by a head injury as well as the normal way strokes occur). I want to ask about this as when I initially saw him at University Hospital his face had slipped on the left side so I asked if he’d had a stroke and they told me no, so I’d like to clarify this.
Sorry to hear all of that. I did have a incident yesterday where I had to go out of the street for a young chick that obviously did not know to drive a car. I was slowing down, look into her eyes and she did pull out anyhow. I went out to the green to avoid being killed or whatever. Sorry if I sound bad for women driving cars but I would love to man and women not driving cars. Fuck cars!
Subarachnoid haemorrhage is not particularly rare and they are most often caused by head trauma of some kind which would fit with the theory of a whack to the head either from being hit or from a fall.
It’s basically a brain bleed and will display stroke symptoms.

correct, they are not rare – yet, they are not naive either. Happy to see that there is a follow up through MRIs, to make sure that it resolves completely, and that they can gauge the potential damage on surrounding tissue.
The good news? the Brain has a cunning plasticity (like, BlackAdder’s cunning plans…) ; if an area is damaged, the neurons will reconnect in neighborhood tissue to reclaim the functionality. It might take some time, and practice (i.e. therapy), but it will work. Guaranteed.

We saw the neurosurgical consultant yesterday, she explained the brain scan pics to us and said she was pleased with them. He still has a small amount of fluid in there but it’s not fluid to the brain, it’s in the area between the brain and the skull and nothing to be concerned about. Also some scarring but again nothing to worry about.
She spoke to him about not overloading his brain and he was advised to postpone cognitive testing scheduled for next week, reason being if he gets a bad result he’d be stuck with it as they can’t retest for a year. He goes back to the hospital as a daily outpatient at the end of next month so she said get the cognitive stuff done then.
This doctor was responsible for his care when he was high dependency and she understood he’d been very unhappy on the ward he was moved to and apologised (obviously it wasn’t her fault, it was the way the ward was run, lack of communication and daily schedules changing at very short notice etc). She also said she wanted to follow how he was doing, if we had any questions to email her and for him to drop by when he goes back as an outpatient which I thought was really kind.
Hopefully from here on it’s onwards and upwards as they say, but I’m at the stage where I could do with a holiday (preferably to somewhere that’s about 23c!)

Glad he is generally on the mend, I’m so sorry to hear how much pain, damage and heartache can be caused in just a moment, and in this case, not even really knowing what happened.

I’m not on Facebook, or any of the other social media platforms, they’ve never been of any interest to me. I did have a Twitter account back in 2012 I never posted on, didn’t like a lot of what I was seeing on there so I closed the account down after 3 days.
OH isn’t on anything like Facebook, Twitter (or I should say X now) or the other general social platforms either.
I use WhatsApp or FT to keep in contact with friends and family back in the UK and that’s about it.
I should also point out my OH knows what I’ve posted on here and is ok with it.
He’s slowly getting a blog together about his experience of recovering from a brain injury.
I agree with the people who say we should use the name on its birth certificate

Never rains but it pours, but now my eldest brother has been taken into hospital via A and E and he’s very unwell. Seems he’s had a massive bleed that’s related to the bladder op he had a few weeks ago, his potassium levels are dangerously high and there is something going on with his white blood count. My niece is there with him, she’s a senior nurse in another hospital, she says they are currently trying to find a bed for her dad but there might not be one available until 10pm. My sister is worried sick as she has her own problems at the moment and it waiting test results.
Given the situation I’m dealing with here if anything happens I don’t know if I can get back to Scotland.
It’s not easy being the youngest in a family where all the siblings are much older than you, bros are 81, 76 and sis 73.

OH attends day clinic for cognitive therapy twice a week from beginning August, initially for 8 weeks. His eyesight is a lot better, he saw the eye specialist yesterday.
Unfortunately he’s been a bit all over the place this week as it’s a year since his father died and he’s not been sleeping. He also had a couple of mishaps, first was 2 days ago, lost the small wallet he uses with his gym bag. It contained a credit card, his B Permit, a card from the blood donor service in Britain with his blood group, his pensioner ID for the staff canteen and about 10f in cash. He’s cancelled the CC and sorted out getting another B Permit.
Then yesterday he went to the gym and tripped going in the door, he now has a sprained wrist and a big bruise to the left arm he’s having ergotherapy and physiotherapy on.
Big Bro got out of hospital yesterday, he’s doing ok. Seems his problem was the dosage of Warfarin his GP had him on, the hospital kept him in until they could get the dosage right. So at least that’s one less thing to worry about, but now there’s something going on with my other bro who is an idiot and somehow managed to get his utilities disconnected last Friday

I know, but my sister is dealing with everything at the moment and she has health issues of her own that have been going on since last year but aren’t resolved yet. My next door neighbour there has organised our front doors, windows and facsia boards being repainted at the same time in August and my sis is overseeing it for us.
I’ve sent her a new Kindle Paperwhite as a gift for all the hassle she’s had lately.
