I couldn’t fault the hygiene in either hospital tbh. At the hospital where he’s an outpatient his room and en-suite on both wards were deep cleaned every day and I wasn’t permitted to bring home clothes, they had to be laundered there. There was a disinfection stand for hands left outside his door with a secure box for his laundry on the bottom shelf. Even the bedlinen was changed every day.
Just another update.
We had a meeting with his senior Consultant, therapists and his team lead at work regarding him having a phased return. His current 2 day a week rehab period finishes at the end of next week, the hospital are recommending he does another 4 weeks. He’s now had 2 negative bacterial e-coli tests, his Consultant says he needs a third but it’s expected this will also be negative.
When he goes back to work p/t he will still be classed as on sick leave as this will be part of his rehab and the hospital will provide medical certificates.
Now this is where it gets difficult - his agency contract runs until first week in November and was expected to renew, but without him or his team leader being informed it was cancelled as his former employers no longer want to deal with this agency. We had an idea this was happening as the agency contacted him 3 weeks ago about returning a laptop they’d provided.
It’s possible his ex employers may take him back themselves as an employee again as his team want / need him back until the project is finished as long as he is capable.
His team lead was asked by the hospital Consultant to get something sorted out on this and get back to them by early October, unfortunately he’s a bit of a procastinator when it comes to admin stuff, hence all the stress when OH was made to retire last year and it took 5 months to get a contract, his team lead just sat on it. So that’s where we are at the moment.
I’ve asked about the possibility of him having something like CBT as he has mood swings and anger management issues now, the hospital have agreed to have a meeting with us, but have said if they don’t think it’s the right type of therapy they’ll suggest providing something else.
He managed to sit through 3 hours of The Odyssey at the cinema last night which was good. We’d already seen it at the Open Air Kino in Basel but his concentration was flagging a bit in the last 30 minutes so he asked if I’d go and see it again (glad I did, second time it was better, nobody getting up to pee or buy beer and no Munster bells donging lol).
