Demolition crew demolishes the wrong house

Oh man, can you imagine fielding the phone call from the homeowner!!!

I was a bit freaked out by the title of this post. But in the end it's probably a good thing and the house was empty. They'll get a new build paid for by the city.

A good thing?

A family house of decades has a lifetime of history and character about it, I'm sure he doesn't see it as such a good thing!

Reading the thread title my senses have told me it was something that had happened in Switzerland. What a disappointment - cannot get coffee and popcorn

I would like to know what happening to 12`000`000.50 in cash which was hidden in the rafter ?

Welcome back, DR! How are you settling in? Your house is still standing, I presume?

Well, it's all relative.

It wasn't their home but an empty house they inherited from one of the grand parents. Seeing the house that was to be destroyed, it doesn't look like it was in any type of neighborhood with all these fabulous houses. They look like mobile homes. Now they will (hopefully) have a new one.

If it was the home they were living in with all their stuff in it, etc. Then I'd have really felt bad for them.

It's not ideal but IMO it's not as tragic a story as I first though.

Fortunately it happened in the good 'ol USA, so I'm thinking Yes.

After the damages payout, the home owner will be able to blow his nose and wipe his tears away with $100 bills.

Misfortune is the equivalent of winning the Lotto in the US.

(He still has his health I assume, and only lost material possession).
