I know I'm going to get groans and red blobbies for saying this....but I actually prefer the Coop own-brand baked beans to Heinz. I find the Heinz sauce to a bit on the watery and sweet side - the Coop ones have the right level of tomatoeyness and the sauce is thicker.
Never tried them (incidentally, I do think Heinz sauce has got runnier. I'm sure it was thicker last century (I never remember them making toast that soggy) - is it a difference between Heinz sold here and in UK?).
I'll give them a go, but if they're disappointing then I'm coming back with a groan.
I love Heinz baked beans in large quantities in my English breakfast and special offer would have been such a bargain if it only came with air-freshener attached to 1kg can
There is a difference in the sauce depending on which country they're made for.
The ones in Belgium had a sauce which was much less sweet and more orange in colour than the UK ones.
You'll need to read the tin to find out which market they were intended for, I think a lot of the beans sold here are actually imported from the UK but the ones sold in France and Germany are probably different.
I've tried the coop beans and didn't really like them. ( they're ok in an emergency though and probably work ok with the corned beef)
