Thanks, the fresh Australian lamb at Fr 26.70 per kilo looked good too (Last page)

That is a lot of farting!

Thanks, Sbrinz.

I can't believe the price of meat here - or in London.

I was in the Coop recently and was salivating infront of an Irish half-leg of lamb.

Luckily, I asked the price of it before casually chucking it in the trolley.

I particularly love Irish and Australian lamb. I think the lambs here eat too much good fresh green grass.

I handed it back to the butcher with apologies, and bought some mince, which was pretty good once I'd doctored it.

I read this as "Dinner special - Heinz baked beans 1kg size!".

Fair enough, I thought. A few slices of toast, and the job's a good 'un.

Thinks: Ideal for a Blazing Saddles reconstruction evening!

Usually I buy frozen Australian or NZ lamb at the Turkish shops. About Fr 17,- per Kg

I think some expats from UK living here do wear rose-tinted glasses. We've just come back from UK (East Midlands) and the price of meat and many other things has gone up hugely recently. We regularly buy 2 kg legs of lamb in nearby France for about 19 Euros- but I have to 'borrow' people to come and visit Pontarlier with me

For meat i recommend trying to get a card for cash&carry markets or find a friend who has a card. take a look at weekly "express" from prodega/growa: http://www.prodega.ch/de/express

Sorry if this was offtopic now.

Eine Million Hausfrauen jeden Tag ..........

My Swiss friend bought her daughter another jar of these today at Denner and was mightily surprised when I did not buy one too being a Brit 'n' all that!

Told her I can't stand the smell of them any more, let alone the taste! Loved Heinz beans on toast as a kid though!

Fry onions until done, add curry powder (mild or medium) and stir in baked beans. Heat to just bubbling and serve on toast.

I need to go visit the baby shops in Pontarlier, you can borrow me!

Umm... Will give it a go with some taken from my friend's daughter's stash!

Love the way those 1kg jars are marked with 5 lines for 5 days intake!

My grandsons don't even bother to heat them up. They eat them straight out of the tin, on the hoof, still managing to natter on the phone to their mates at the same time.

A bit like Ambrosia creamed rice, tastes better straight from the can!!

- "Mummy, mummy - can I lick round the can?"

- "No, flush it, like everyone else."

Tin of corned beef (preferably Fray Bentos - why us corned beef much wetter in Switzerland?) a tin of beans. Chuck it a pan till it's hot and mushy. Mmmm.

I guess they're right when they say home cooking is much more wholesome.

Don't forget to put a little marmite on the toast. *

* does not apply to expats in Denmark or Canada

I don't get this "little Marmite" thing. Lash it on.

If it doesn't hurt when you're eating it, then you need more Marmite.
