I have been googling for for "zahnkorrektur erwachsene" and there are many relevant matches but the prices are astronomical for some web sites and other web sites don't look very credible ...
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in Zurich that practices dental correction for adults? preferably that uses invisible braces ...
Can anyone also advice the real bid (and not ask) price ranges?
Any experiences with the dental center of the UniversitätsSpital Zürich?
I'm also interested in using an Invasilign to get my teeth straight but is soooo expensive . I even searched on an UK website and it costs 2000GBP...in fact they say ''starting 2000GBP'' in fact so who knows what is the total cost. I know I'm 26 but I still want it .
The Invisalign system is just impressively efficient. I have a colleague who did it and we did not notice he had braces until he told us. Depending on the severity of your case, the treatment can go from 6-18 months. Regarding costs, it also depends on severity of the dental work but don't expect less than 5'000CHF for a simple case and it goes up to 12'000 CHF.
The thing that I clearly remember from my colleague is that the doctor who is going to treat you is crucial. So select the one who has maximum experience with invisalign. Apparently they have Platinum, Gold, Silver labels for dentists practicing invisalign. So look for the Platinum one in your area.
I had the Invisalign braces from 2006-2007. My orthodontist was Marco Tribo and I was very very satisfied with the outcome. He is Swiss but speaks perfect English. The cost was about CHF 10'000. If you have supplementary insurance, they pay something towards it. (In my case, it was about 45%). No one knew I had braces. I now have the smile I have always wanted.
I could try nomal braces or a small orthodontic ...something... but I wouldn't feel comfortable using it during the day. The advantage of Invasilign is that you can't see it, this is why it has this name.
What is your age if you don't mind telling me...you can send me a PM .
I've been to the university dentist. They have the latest and best equipment. The work will be done by students supervised by professionals. The prices are unbeatable. If you don't want to spend thousands on your teeth go there. However it may be that after about 5 or 6 years a filling may fall out or you have to get something redone. But it's worth it coz it still costs less than regular dentist. If you do go, go early in the morning becouse there are hundreds of people there, literally.
Hello, I am a ortho asistant from the US and living in Zurich. I still had my braces on when I moved over here and had about 6 months left of treatment and saw Dr. Tribo. As having knowledge and been training staff for years in the field I can tell you, you REALLY have to be picky when you choose an orthodontist. I did see Tribo as I said before and I left after seeing him for 3 months (a few thousands dollars later).Due to the fact I still had corrections to be made and he said I was done...I knew better. SO I flew back to NYC and my Dr. told me I had added a few more months on to my treatment by seeing him. The problem is some are use to treating teens. KIds just want them off even if they are not perfect or done. SO make sure they have a large adult clientile. In my experience as an assistant it depends on how much movement you will need and if it is crowded teeth or an overbite exc.if you are considering invisaline. Invisaline is something to correct crowding (if you are looking for perfection) get real braces. I am 28, and I had them in my late 20s.(I even met my husband while I had braces and he didn"t see me without them till after we were married) It really is not as bad as you think having them at my age. Think of it this way....you are wearing a very...very expensive peice of jewelry...that will make your teeth perfect in a year or 2 depending on the case. I had clear upper brackets and yes you can see them but they don't jump out at you hehehe. I can send you some picts of you wanna see what they look like on.
amssmile- I have a gap between my front teeth and of course the other teeth are bit not in their place. My smile is not that bad, it is not such a big problem but I would love to wear something to make the gap just a bit smaller.
When I was in gymnasium and highschool my classmates were making fun of me . I had some braces but they were ''mobile'', I had them on at night and off during the day, I choosed to wear them like this because I was ashamed to go with ''wires'' at the playground.
I don't know what happened but I didn't wanted to wear them anymore (my mom told me she was afraid I would choke ).
I would like to have my teeth straight, maybe I don't want to close the gap for good but just a bit.
If it is minor the clear "invisalign" will close gaps. BTW kids are just mean, adults are much more understanding. I had soo many people come up to me and ask me all kinds of questions about them. Most want them, few are willing to get them. In my profession we see many people opt for the clear invisalign because we are all a little vein. When they are almost done they are more picky. The patients see how close to perfect (but not yet perfect) their teeth are. They usually ask well "what about this area, can we do something here to make it more perfect?" Invisalign is not perfection! Close but not perfect. If you are going to put yourself through the discomfort and time, might as well make them PERFECT! I would try to talk all my patients into braces over the invisalign any day. WHy put the money and time into something and not get 100%. BTW most women opted for brackets after invisalign for a month or two to do the final corrections...crazy huh.
I would wear Invasilign but it is way too expensive for me, at least now.
I could wear mobile braces like I had when I was younger.
I will work with kids for the next year and I think they have brackets so I shouldn't be ashamed.
Although I would like an Invasilign. Imagine I go to a sports club or go out with buddies and when I smile they laugh . I shouldn't care, I know, but memories...
I got normal braces (the white ones at least) when I was 32 and I have never spent CDN 10,000 so well! That was in Toronto by an excellent ortho. I am 100 times more confident, I smile all the time and my teeth really are beautiful. It even made me look younger. I also had no problem with dating. Guys thought it was cute! It's really worth it, but I second all the opinions that say to check around. Ask to see before and after pictures of difficult cases and stuff like that. There are a lot of second-rate people around!
Hi Princessduck.. I agree, you shouldn't. Smile or laugh whenever you want , because the real smile is the best smile you have, not the "half smile" that you have your teeth hidden behind the lips (i've seen many girls do which IMO i found it "not make them look prettier")
I also have over crowded teeth, but i always smile and laugh normal like this ----> . Nodoby make fun or laugh at me whenever i smile or laugh loud. Well sometimes my mom or my sisters do, but then i will say: So...? do you guys think you are prettier than me? Who is the one with married status in this room by the way? and who had the most hot Boyfriend among us? hahaha (i'm 25) my older sister 28, and my little sis is 19.
well of course i'd like to visit dentist ask which treatment is needed for my teeth, but only when i have the money in hand first
I would like to thank you all for the very helpful answers specially amssmile
btw I'm 34 and I think my teeth are quite ok, they are just slightly crowded. I remember in my last visit to the dentist, went I asked about this, the dentist and his assistant were arguing over whether I actually needed a correction or not . Since I really want it perfect I realize the right solution for me would be the proper brackets and not the invisialign?
I thought about going to a dentist in Germany but as I understand this is not a one time visit but I would have to go multiple times so it really makes more sense to do it here in Zurich.
I asked my insurance and they won't cover pity I didn't think about this before ...
I made an appointment with Swiss Smile HB http://www.swiss-smile.com/ and they are gonna make me an offer ... so I will see how much they will be asking. Meantime I will research for other possible doctors.
@amssmile thank you again I have no clue how to tell whether Dr. A would be better than Dr. B. I'm an IT so I'm clueless about dentists .
The hint of looking for an orthodontist was very useful.
I called UniversitätsSpital Zürich today for guidance on this and their answer was that I would be paying on the same 10K region and no less ... I expected it to be cheaper ...
I would really appreciate references for Orthodontist in Zurich, please PM me.
He is not in Zurich, Kanton Zug but is highly qualified (check his web site with details of his ortho career) . His english is great and would give you a quote. No problem with the invisible brace.
Everything said has been really good; questions and answers. The Invisiline is a new technique and does have it advantages, but be careful. It is really not so great for your gums....and, there are lots of general dentists who use this method as a new profit center. They still charge A LOT but are not qualified orthodontists....(personally I would only want an orthodontist...too expensive to be cheap!) Asking for recommendations through Zürich Uni is a great idea or look at the www.sso.ch (Swiss dental organization)
Lots of ADULTS in USA are wearing braces with no hesitation. It is all in our heads.....JUST DO IT...and be happy with the results!
Also, sorry to say, but be careful of the swiss-smile people...I saw a case of ortho on this GORGEOUS Thai woman, whom they are moved her teeth DIAGONALLY.. never saw anything like it....she was pretty upset....
For the person with the large space between the front teeth, you may want to check your frenum attachment. It is the little muscle which connects the inside of your top lip, with the gums above your teeth. If it is too low and attaches between your two front teeth, it causes the gap. A good oral surgeon and orthodontist can correct this, with a small surgery and some tooth movement.
I am too interested in using the Invisalign treatment for overcrowding in Basel area, would anyone please be able to share their experience? I have looked up orthodonists using this technology in Basel and Loerrach but it would be great to have somebody's personal recommendation. Thank you guys!
Hi there, I am looking to have the treatment with lingual brace ansd currently researching experienced orthodontists in / around Zurich, would appreciate any recommendations / tips. I had a treatment before but not very successful, so need to be very careful when choosing a doctor. Will definitely look up the orthodontists mentioned above but would very much appreciate any fresh recommendations. Thank you !
