Hi, I could not get my child dental insurance with our insurance provider because he is over 6 and will need braces. Has anyone found a solution for this situation?
Thanks!

You could see if it is covered on his health insurance anyway. My son had complex work done which involved braces but it was classed as medical rather than dental. I’m not sure what the threshold is but possibly if the dentist notes that the bite won’t match up as the jaw grows and matures.
Obviously if it’s just cosmetic that probably won’t count.
It would be worth finding out exactly what will be involved and why it is necessary.
If it is already known at age 6 that he will need braces it sounds like something potentially quite major and it may well be covered by AI (IV in German?) rather than health insurance anyway.
IV over here, Invalidenversicherung I think
When I was 50 I had a brace done. It was classed Medical and I did not have to pay. ![]()
Never quite “got” dental insurance… mom had to have some work done (wisdom tooth, a cavity and a broken tooth) - I was prepared to pay… but then her normal medical + accident insurance covered it. The dentist marked it as medical as it would cause issued if not treated.
