I need to make an implant, and I would like to get any recommendations about a dentist around Basel / Baselland.
Has any of you any idea how much it will cost? In Spain, some people I know si paying around 2000 EUR, but I assume in Switzerland could be more than double
Thank you very much for the recommendation in advance and best regards.
Hop on the #3 tram to France, to St. Louis Soleil and visit Centre Dentaire Mutualiste de Saint-Louis. Good quality, quick treatment and a fair price. Call to book in advance.
Went to my dentist in France today, and it was pandemonium. I had to ask for emergency appointment for OH as he is in a lot of pain and it was only on the strong insistence by the dentist, that she found a space before December. She explained that everyone thinks the border will soon be closed again- and that they are inundated with requests for appointments. She explained they are only seeing clients who have been with them for some years and not seeing anyone else. The phone was ringing constantly and she was just saying NO.
Which might not be the case for the Basel area- but just as a warning.
My husband went to Zahnartztpraxis Claradent at Claraplatz 1 in Kleinbasel for emergency extraction treatment, www.claradent.ch
A Spanish friend of ours had to have a number of top set implants done and resorted to going back to Madrid for this as she was quoted about 120k CHF in Basel.
Husband has had 2 implants done since he moved here, but he went back to Scotland for this as he'd already had one done prior to coming to Basel and wanted the same maxillofacial surgeon. Ridiculous thing is all of his implants are made in Basel (Straumann), but it was much cheaper to fly back to Scotland to get them fitted. We have insurance with our dentist back there so pre Covid went back for checkups and hygiene. The insurance covers us for emergencies in EU/EFTA countries.
I had two terrible experiences in France: my dental crown fell out, and I went to two dentists on different days. The first one glued my crown back on without doing any proper cleaning—the crown fell off the next day. The second dentist glued my crown back on, which fell off two days later, and repaired “other teeth” without my consent, charging me five times more than I expected to pay. Obviously, there must be good dentists, but I would only cross the border into Germany or France today with good recommendations.
