First post here ever so thanks in advance for any suggestions.
There is a short online video of two people talking. (It is a training video.) I speak no German, nor do I have friends who do. Thus, I would very much like to find an app that can listen to this German conversation and translate to English - - either in spoken word or text. Does such a thing exist?
They exist, no idea how accurate they are. At a guess not very - they can hardly be better than machine translations of text - and quite probably much worse. German has a pretty broad range of dialects and accents just like English does, and without any idea what the people in your video might be using....
But give it a try, might be enough to get the gist at least. I googled "voice translator app" and several came up. I can't personally recommend one over another because I haven't used them... when I first landed here we had a little paper app called a phrasebook. It only translated in one direction so probably wouldn't be much help to you. Battery life was great though.
Yep, will do as it adapts to the speaker/dialect. I have tried to use it to practice French but it made no sense as it adapted to my dialect so it was useless to verify if I acquired the correct pronunciation
