Deutsches Museum for Children? [Münich D]

Hello all,

I am considering where to go/what to do in the April school break. My children are almost 4 and 6, both boys. I was wondering, has anyone been with young ones to the Deutsches musuem? I went about 10 years ago as a young adult and remember it as AMAZING. My children enjoy fun museums (Technorama, Transport in Luzern). I enjoy being dad and professor!

Anyone been there with young children, would recommend it?

Mom and baby would stay behind (or that's the plan now) - so we're looking more at a 'guys only' outing. We want to go to Legoland sometime, this she wouldn't miss.

I was at the Museum in 2009 and was pretty disappointed. Quite a few of the exhibitions were out of order, i.e. one could not interact with the technology at all. Other exhibits were plainly outdated (Pluto still exhibited as a planet in 2009, with only a small A4-printout informing about the loss of planet status in 2006).

there is a good section designed for children in the deutsches museum that I'd recommend for kids that age. it's in the basement / keller. get there early, it can get pretty full if there's bad weather out...

The Deutsches Museum is absolutely huge so you should plan to see the aerospace part plus the kids-section which had a submarine when I was there in 2009. The part with ancient technologies was also extremely interesting but there are certain parts that are really big and quite boring. Personally I think the mines were interesting but they were so enormously big and it took ages to go through them. The kids probably will not like that. The physics and chemistry sections are also probably quite boring for kids so avoid them but there is still a lot to see and do even for kids.

Thanks all for your replies. We found a nice waterpark nearby so might combine day of culture with day of pool and play. Cheers!
