Been there done that. Normally ask for their FINMA registration number, ask who they are regulated by, tell them that that isn't sufficient to offer financial services in CH etc. They leave me alone for 18 months or so.
I politely and literally told these leeches to F and O they again came through the switchboard at the large corporation I work for.
I changed companies last year and these idiots still found me. I told them every time do not call me, but yes 18 months later they call. I think I'm on my 4th failed attempt now.
Really do they think that a no the last 4 times will suddenly be a yes.
Can we not hire someone to call them constantly offering them services they do not want? Jamming up their phone lines. Thinking of a call centre with 25 people somewhere cheap we can hire for the month.
Just enough to cut off their cash flows from the mugs that do deal with them.
Yup. I did and made sure I had the full three courses and a bottle of wine. Then I politely informed him that I have two kids, no savings and barely a pot to piss in. They haven't bothered me since and all LinkedIn and FB pop ups have stopped too.....
I almost got one of their specialists salesmen (sorry, advisors) to come up to our farm in the mountains where they would have to wade ankle deep through mud and horse sh!t to talk to me in the stable. Shaking hands I would have made sure he'd have got a hand that he wouldn't want to put near his face for some time.
Then after letting him talk for a while I would have said in a strong Yorkshire accent that i would like to invest and that I could probably stretch to 20 chufs a month if I tightened my belt.
Unfortunately I think they somehow cottoned on that I wasn't a serious customer and they never called back to make an appointment.
On a serious note though, I actually met two salesmen from deVere in my career; once in 2013 and second time in 2015. Every meeting has ended up on promises promises. After the latest feed from the EF members, I will stir clear of them.
That's a shame. You should call back and make that appointment. I'm sure the photos would be interesting. It could be the start of a "financial consultant in an unusual location" series.
have not read the thread as I am at work and quite busy; however did want to report immediately that I just recieved a call from an English speaker called Xavier (calling from DeVere). The call was short and polite (as I said to them, I knew who they were, and due to where I work, did not need any financial advice at all) on both sides - I was to the point, and did not allow him to waffle.
I always feel a little jealous when I read these threads I only get cold calls for health insurance optimization and to tell me I won an iPhone/mattress (please send the post fee to so-and-so account).
I was never deemed worthy for a portfolio optimization
Are DeVere related to Belgravia Group who are trying to get me to put my SIPP into QROPS on a weekly basis? Anglo Saxon profanity just seems to bump the caller to the next victim.
Simply tell De Vere that you do not have a UK pension (they obviously found out through LinkedIn) and any other assets for them to play with. The conversation soon comes to an abrupt end.
