They are regularly trying to take a piece of expats hard earned money pie. I dealt with two of them in the past until buggered off for good and not interested anymore. They find you via LinkedIn, FB and personal contacts.
They just call my office general number.. They then pretend to be a colleague from another offices or they pretend to be a friend or whatever.
Security let them through and when they reach me (approx once per month) they pretend that either -- we met already somewhere, they met a colleague of mine, a friend recommended me.. or similar lies.
It's usually a young sounding male person, overly friendly etc. But yesterday it was Vanessa - I missed her call, can't wait until she calls back
Edit : PS Vanessa {fullname} said she was seeking a reference for somebody to get past secruity - but i googled - she's DeVere
She calls me regularly and I fall for it every time ...
Wait a minute! It's like this joke about hot blondes on the parking lot who seduce guys in front of the shopping mall then rob them. I had my wallet regularly stolen on the 1st, 15th and 30th of every month.
They call our general office number (that is a public number and they can probably find out who I'm working for from social networks). However our receptionists are generally fairly savvy and won't put them through unless they identify themselves. If they do identify themselves, the receptionist will either tell them to pound sand (if she's dealt with them before), or else call me and ask.
Probably worth briefing your receptionists so that they deal with these guys appropriately.
I also occasionally get attempts to contact me from financial sharks called Guardian something and Churchill something.
In case anyone wants to take that dump: Their office is now on Talacker Strasse, just across the street from Paddy's. (The building which is mostly Societe Generale)
I got a few LinkedIN requests from various employees earlier in the year, but deleted them as am aware they just want to find other contacts at my company. Not had a call from them in a year though
So you know it's a big financial institution - we deal with wealth management and investments you know? If I needed advice I'd sort have some options already?
