I am just wondering of places to get digital passport photos in Zurich? In my home country these can be taken in a pharmacy, but my understanding is that I need to go to a photo shop here in Zurich. Also, my local photo store has quoted my CHF 55, is this the normal price to pay for the photos?
A lot of the photo machines at shopping centres etc. now do digital photos, you might have to take a USB cable; SD card or USB key to get it onto your device.
And then again your phone will take digital pictures in various formats.
Another possible option that I've found useful is an app called Turboscan. You have to purchase it, but it allows you to "scan" any document or photo and convert it to PDF, JPEG, etc. The app also allows you to make a multi-page scan. I tell you, I've used it a lot these past few years. (I'm not affiliated with them, btw, just a happy customer!)
For US visa application 2 years ago, only pictures and digital copies taken thru an authorized shop are accepted, but.. also accepts digital selfie if done to spec - no shadows, headgears, eyewear, down to shoulders shown, dimensions and file size as specified.
I used my pic taken by my colleague using my phone on a well lit white wall in the office. This was accepted on the online application form. I brought some printed copies to the interview but was not needed.
I did the same for an Indian visa a few years ago. I also used passport photos out of a Swiss machine to renew my German passport, making sure I had understood what the German specifications were.
