digital tv with uk receiver

hy everyone

i moved from london to switzerland and discovered that it is possible to get some uk-channels with cablecom or yetnet-digital.

to get to a point: is it possible to get this channels with my ordinary (cheap) BUSH receiver from tesco? Or do I really need to rent (or buy) one from the provider for as much as 6CHF a month????!!! is there a decoder necessary?

unfortunately i can't try as i left my box with a mate back in down to earth bermondsey

many thanks lads

if u can get a sky box with the free view channels programmed already into it any dish will work...however i was quoted today 780 chf to drill it to the wall and point it to the heavens.... not sure on cable i live in the heavens....

The first post in this forum is a "sticky" all about this. In summary yes you can get free to air channels with an ordinary digital decoder pointed at astra 28.5e.

BTW 780chf for a dish fit would be a big rip off. I think I paid about 250chf including a new dish and stand.

I haven't found anything in the sticky that replies to the question posed, since a UK terrestrial free-to-air receiver doesn't work with a satellite. In any case, does anyone know the answer to the following:

with NAXOO, since a digital signal is clearly being broadcast along the cable lines, is it possible to use a decoder such as the ones inbuilt into most UK TV's for freeview? I.E. if I bring over an LCD screen from the UK with a digital tuner, will it be able to watch naxoo's channels in digital resolution, and will the menus with the tv guide and so on appear normally?

This is of particular interest as I would like to use a PVR, without having to pay an arm and a leg for a drivebox...

Thanks for your help!

An addition to the post above: by TV's I mean those with in-built CAM card readers
