Any suggestions of training providers in Switzerland or job opportunities would be much appreciated.
My partner and I are relocating to Zurich from the UK. While he has a job, I am searching for work or training that will progress my career in Education. I have a secondary school teaching qualification, however in recent years I have been working with students aged 5-11 and I would like to obtain a formal qualification, specifically with this age group or younger. It is important that the qualification is recognised in Switzerland's international schools and kindergartens.
Most of the English-speaking early childhood staff I know in Zurich, who do not already have a relevant qualification, end up doing the open university courses from the uk.
If you want to do an early childhood course in Zurich, then you need to be fluent in German.
There are exceptions. It is possible he they will accept your secondary teaching degree, or other courses. For example, in Zurich, the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma for the 3-6 age range is recognised for 'childcare' and "Hort" (out of hours care) purposes.
Thank you Sweetpea that is really helpful. I have an OU office very near my home so may go and speak to an advisor there. Many thanks
Apologies Swisspea (autocorrect!)
Hi swisspea. Do you know if the open university courses are recognized in Switzerland? Are they good enough for EDK?
Check with the relevant authority regarding getting any qualifications recognised.
