Do Americans need a tourist visa for Switzerland?

Do Americans now need a visa Switzerland? I’ve read they need to apply for a tourist visa in Schengen countries but I would be grateful for info on Switzerland’s entry requirements. Thanks!

Some Americans yes, depending on the country. Canadians and US nationals don’t for stays less than 90 days.

IATA’s https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/ uses the same database as the airlines.

Thank you for your reply. So if a US national were to come to Switzerland for three weeks, they don’t need to apply for a tourist visa?

Yes, unless they are a known felon, etc.

Thanks!

There will be an electronic travel authorization (ETIAS) needed in the future, but it’s expected to go live no earlier than May 2025:

This will be required of third-country nationals who do not require a visa for a visit of less than 90 days (like US citizens) .

That’s it! I had read that it would be implemented this year. Thanks for the heads up.
