Do I need to have health insurance until the day I leave CH?

I am leaving the country on the 14th of December and I was told that I can go to the Gemeinde one month before departure to sort out what needs be. Obviously I don't want to pay for a whole month of Health Insurance so if I went to the Gemeinde before the end of November, could I cancel with my health insurance before having to pay the premium for December? If not, can I inform my insurer that I will be leaving on the 14th of December and ask for a quote to pay for just those days? I'm sure I payed pro rata when I first signed up which was also kind of halfway through the month so any idea if this should be a problem when closing with them? I will try call them in the new week anyhow.

You will have to pay up until the date you leave, you used to have to pay for the whole month, but apparently now insurance companies have to calculate first and last months pro-rata.

Depending on where your going, you might have to pay for a further 3 months unless you can show you have new coverage when you are moving to if its in the EU

What happens if you fall ill....

You got accident insurance linked to your health insurance or via employer.

For the sake of saving a little, it may cost you a whole lot of money.......

Since when?

Tom

It was mentioned in another thread the other day, new law since Dec 15 apparently.

Tom.............please, it's been written on the English Forum, it's bound to be true.

You need to get over all this doubting and believe what you read

05. My child was born at the end of the month. I registered in Switzerland in the middle of the month. My husband died at the beginning of the month. Is the insurer entitled/obliged to charge a premium for the whole month?

No. Following a decision taken by the Federal Supreme Court concerning the divisibility of premiums under compulsory health insurance (decision of 3 December 2015) the premium is divisible. This means that in the event of a birth or a death, or if someone moves to Switzerland or moves away, the insurer has to calculate the premiums to the day. This rule has been in effect since 3 December 2015.

I'm leaving the country (for good). There's no point in having a health insurance policy in CH, I might as well just take one out in the country I am moving to.

I have spoken to Sanitas, I will pay my full premium and after I have a "leaving form" from the Gemeinde, they will reimburse me for the days I am not in the country.
