Do I need to show B permit when I leave Switzerland?

Hello,

Nice to meet you everyone. I am currently just finished my BBA programme in Geneva and leaving Switzerland in 1 week. My B permit expired 2 days ago and I am wondering if I need to renew it or ask for a temporary visa to leave Switzerland.

Or maybe I dont need to renew anything and can leave just like that? I am flying through Moscow, so my main qiestion was if i need tmy B permit to exit Switzerland?

Ideally if you've been registered in Switzerland you should be de-registering before you leave and cancelling all your contracts.

Did you not get any reminders about renewing your permit before it expired? I imagine those letter would have most of what you're looking for on them.

No I didnt recieve any, I managed to cancel my health insurance but recieved no documents from OCP.

I am going there tomorrow to ask about attestation of departure, but as i understood its just a formality to simplify canceling of all payments.

To be honest I'm surprised you could cancel health insurance without the atteststion. Also for phone and internet etc. There will be minimum notice periods.

You won't need a valid permit when leaving the country though no, especially if you've got you're atteststion de departure

Thank you for the reply, so attestation of deprarture takes time to recieve or it is possible to get it in one day?

If I were in your situation I would keep both the expired B permit and confirmation of deregistration handy to show at the airport since you will be flying outside the Schengen area. This way you should be able to avoid any potential problems if they just see your entry visa and arrival stamp but nothing else, and end up asking questions.

Fill out the notice of departure form, take it to OCP, and you should get a stamped confirmation on the spot.

In theory you could face fines for not deregistering, so imho it's just better to do it.

Okay, so Ill go to OCP tomorrow and get fill the form and get attestation of departure the same day hopefully. I am flying back on sunday so hopefully I can just leave peacefully and got for my masters.

When I deregistered I wasn't allowed to keep my permit (although it was EU, C permit, and not expired)

I was given the attenstation on the same day. And it cost me I think 20CHF.
