I gather from reading other threads that IKEA will deliver large items if you pay 10% of the product cost. The items will cost me around CHF 1200 so will they deliver to my actual flat or only building's front door? What are my other options to get the items from IKEA to my actual flat? I can't drive nor lift.
They will deliver no matter which floor they have always helped me, at least do so in Basel (the Pratteln Ikea)...In the Netherlands that is another story
I believe they will carry stuff up stairs. They did this for me once but this was many years ago so maybe terms and conditions have changed.
On the whole though, I have found the IKEA delivery service to be poorly organised and unreliable (this was several years ago mind you). They managed to get my address wrong although I had written it very clearly and then they made out this was my fault. They didn't turn up on the day they had promised with the result that I had to take three half days off work just to wait for some rather sub-quality furniture to be delivered. Their excuses were lame and always somehow managed to twist things to being my fault and when I tried to talk to somebody from management strangely there was nobody ever there who was able to talk to me, or if there was it wasn't their problem. It also turned out I wasn't able to cancel my order although previously they had said that if I wasn't satisfied I could return stuff. It turned out that that rule doesn't apply for deliveries.
All in all, factoring in the hassle and extra costs I could have used the same money and gone for some decent furniture store that delivers for free.
They definitely do, I have had a couple of deliveries in the last few months, the poor fellas were sweating by the time they were done carrying everything up. They'll assemble it for you too if you want to pay for that (I was too cheap )
I found the delivery from the Pratteln Ikea to be fine, the first delivery they were bang on time and the second one they were a little late (said between 11 and 12 and they arrived at 12:10, or something like that) but I had no problems.
They delivered to my flat (3rd floor no lift) in Basel with no problems. My total was arounf 1200 as well so it was 100 for the shipping but then they charged another 100 for the cost of them having to pick it up from the warehouse. They didnt tell me that when i scheduled the delivery but if you read the fine print it is in there. Be warned!
Great I will double check before ordering. How much should I tip the guy who delivers? I assume it would be two guys as one can't lift such large items.
Problem is that I have not found any shop that has similar items for reasonable price. For example a sofa I liked costs CHF 500 in IKEA but a similar one in Interio costs CHF 3500.
Months ago, I bought furnitures like bad and sofa from IKEA and they delivered everything to my apartment without any extra coast. I'm living at 4th floor without lift.
