Hi guys hope you are having a good tart to the weekend. As per the title, I was wondering if you (in general) need the original boxes to return electrical items to a store for repair after they have been used for some months or years?
I have never had to do it in all my years here, but at the same time I have OCD when it comes to keeping original boxes, so if I don't need them I will just chuck them out and clear the 20m2 of space that they take in my attic.
Thanks in advance if anyone can share their experiences.
Maybe it depends on the size of the item? We took in our coffee machine for warranty repairs, in its box, and they didn't want the box. They stuck the machine in a clear bag with a sticker on it and gave us a receipt. They also gave us a replacement machine to use in the meantime since it was a warranty repair. This was at Fust. HTH.

For a refund or a trade-in yeah sure. But this is about repairing so it should not matter if OP sends it a random box or the original box. No store can refuse repair under warranty due to the package missing.
All my life I always have thrown all boxes away unless I think that original package adds to the resale value (Think of a 1 yr old iMac for example). Also who in Switzerland actually has the space to store all boxes, we bought two telly's last year I'd be crazy to save the boxes.
Nope this was based on when I had to take something back for repair, when I went through the returns procedure it was clearly stated to return in original packaging.
As for you sanity ... having never met you I can't comment
