Does a ZEMIS number mean the visa was approved?

Does receiving a ZEMIS number mean my visa was approved?

Yes.

“Once your visa has been approved, you will be informed by the immigration office and a file number (in German, ZEMIS, in French, SYMIC, in Italian, SIMIC) will be given to you. Please contact the appropriate Consulate by email for further instructions once you have received the file number or a confirmation that your visa has been approved.”

There is a number or protocol when the process is initiated to future consulting the status?

I don't quite think it means the visa is approved. My husband's cousine applied for a student visa last year. They sent us a letter requesting for more documents and on this letter there was a ZEMIS number. We were kind of excited too when we saw it. But then 2 months later, we got a rejection letter which still carried the ZEMIS number. I'm thinking this ZEMIS number is just like your file number which they give to every application.

hmm, good to know.

I will send an email on next monday to HR person asking for my zemis numer.

Thank you.

Yes your Zemis is basically just your personal ID number in the immigration system. Once you have one, it usually stays the same for subsequent applications, or if you apply for a change of permit.

Got my zemis only yesterday.
