Does consecutive weekends ski lesson exist?

I have never skied before but I want to learn it this winter. I searched a bit online but only find lessons from Monday to Friday and I don't have enough vacation to take a weekday lesson. So is it possible to find a consecutive weekend ski lesson in Switzerland ?(Preferably around Zurich)

When my wife and I had our weeken/ski apartment in Engelberg we worked with a local ski school and were keen to promote what they called the 'Ski Academy' style of lessons. This consisted of a three-hour lesson on a Saturday or Sunday at the same time for four successive weeks. It was very successful in terms of user outcomes, focussing on adult styles of learning and giving plenty of recovery and practice time between lessons. There are number of folks still posting here on EF who we taught in this way, and a quick search will find several old threads on this subject.

But it could be difficult to organise, needing to get together a group of four to six like-minded individuals who could commit to the same Saturday or Sunday start time for four successive weeks. Lack of support and motivation from the ski school meant that we eventually gave up trying to push the idea and focussed more on private lessons.

Now we've moved to Morgins, VS, I'd gladly offer a similar package, together with accomodation, once we get our B&B running (we're still hoping for thiis winter). This would also be working through a local ski school, and details would first need to be agreed with them.

Do you have some friends you think would also like to learn? Or are there others here who'd like to join in?

I came accross the Post you wrote just know. Haha. Thank you so much for replying here. Yeah, I would love to start searching for friends who would love to learn every weekend together. haha! Let me PM you.

ah Morgins, VS is too far from Zurich.... damn it. But I would still love to know you ,hahah

If you booked a private lesson with a ski school in a resort, with your friends to lessen the cost, you could have consecutive lessons each weekend though you may not get the same instructor each time.

The International Ski Club of Zurich offers pretty much this at Flumserberg in January. You choose either Saturday and Sunday and go 4 times. Registration opens (from memory) in October/November.

If you are a Student or work for a University or used to be a Student or used to work for a University ( ) you can become a member of ASVZ. They offer Weekends for beginners in Flumserberg which is were Close to Zurich https://schalter.asvz.ch/tn/events/12259

Been going to Morgins since I was a small child - as cousins had a Châlet near Foilleuse, just opposite the Dents du Midi. Then have taken dozens of school and adult courses to Torgon in the 80s and 90s - so do say when B&B is opened ... Will you take a small, well-behaved dog? Or next time we are in Torgon, could meet at Châlet Neuf or the great restau at top of Chapelle d'Abondance.

One of my uk summer course students is from Morgins - but more famous for his amazing snowboarding.

Mais bien sûr. We're hoping to have three rooms ready, each with en-suite, with a large kithen and huge dining/living room. Right now there's just one bathroom for the three of them, and heating in two of them is electric radiators only, the third also with a huge "Swedish Oven" (fireplace on the kitchen side) which is not even remotely practical for a bedroom.

So we're going to have to shell out a fortune for ground-sourced heating for the whole house, gonna be well into six figures, and timing is not yet certain. At present we could rent out the entire (bottom) floor as a family apartment, but for B&B use in the winter I think that private bathrooms and proper heating are a must-have.

Will certainly be posting here when it's ready.

For those in the Geneva area there is the International Ski Club. Lessons from absolute beginners to cornice leaping. https://www.scig.ch/en/

Could be perfect for a family ... in the meantime. Bonne chance.

Thank you to all. I will probably take the ASVZ course and the ISCZ course!!

It is possible to get the same instructor for all your bookings if you ask to have the same one when you make the initial reservation. Any good ski school will do this with out any questions. It's way better for you and also the instructor. As im sure Ace1 will agree there are so many benefits of private lessons the list is endless. If you get a few mates together the cost of private instruction isn't to bad.

If going to Morgins, VS is a bit far then maybe Lenzerheide might be an option as there is an English speaking ski school there.
