Hi guys. My car is due a service and years ago in the UK I remember it was a big deal to always get your car serviced at an authorized dealer. Is it the case in CH that the sale value of a car will be impacted if you don't use an authorized dealer to service a car with 1.5 years of official warranty left?
My reason for asking that AMAG where I bought it is a bit of a pain in the ass for me to get to and local to me there are several reputable garages that service all brands of vehicles. If it wouldn't impact things, I'd like to take the 'convenient' route but obviously if it's a big negative then I will take the 'pain in the ass' option.
I have used my car so little in the last couple of years, barring significant trips, that I am anyway considering selling it and giving up my garage space and going the mobility car route. The car cost around 41k new, has only done around 15000km and if I look on Autoscout24 seems to hold its value reasonably well on the used market.
Thanks for any feedback.
As far as I know, the warranty is void if you service at an unofficial garage? For an older car this is of no importance, but not for a newish car obviously.
Some dealers offer special stuff if you go to an official garage. My Mazda gets a 24/7 assistance service for free (similar to TCS) providing I exclusively go to an official garage.
Ahh the warranty is usually void if a car serviced elsewhere? I really need to go read my contract asap then as in my inexperience I really didn't think too deeply from that perspective before I made this thread. Thanks for the heads-up Mel!
Yep, if the car is still under warranty then you need to get it serviced at an authorised dealer if you don’t want to void the warranty.
It’s logical really.
Some garages (non AMAG) are authorized to service AMAG cars. Mine in Grüningen is, for example.
In my experience potential buyers don’t really have a detailed look at your service book. They sorta flip through the pages looking for blanks but otherwise they don’t scrutinize the details. They are happy to have it though.
Indeed. Authorised is not synonymous with AMAG.
You just need to make sure that the garage doing the service is authorised for the car so as not to void the warranty.
You can have your car serviced wherever you want. It doesn't impact the warranty.

Hmm thanks k_and_e for that link that is super useful. if this is really the case that according to your article evidence I can service it anywhere (ie: not only SEAT-authorized garages) without voiding the warranty, as long as adequate parts are used, then would it be reasonable to say that Belgianmum has no clue what she is talking about with regards to this particular topic?
Come on Chuff, no need for personal attacks when people try to be helpful and share their experience.
