Does third party liability insurance cover damage done by cats living in the flat?

hi,

quick question about third party liability insurance. sorry for if this was answered already somewhere else.

We have adopted two cats recently so I was wondering if our third party liability insurance would cover the damage done by the cats to our flat (wall paints etc)? appreciate your experience on the matter.

There is also an argument as it could be considered as a progressive damage, you should have intervened to stop it.

Read your contract - it will say what it covers and not.

As you provide no link to your insurance's general term and condition: We do not know them. Read the general terms and conditions if damages by pets are covered, if certain damages are excluded, or if this is an optional part.

Be aware that third party liability insurance only cover damages to third party property. If the cat smacks down your precious Ming vase it will not be covered.

Be also aware that usually only damages caused by a specific event are covered. If your cat is using always the door frame as a scratching post than there is no specific event, but it is considered as wear and tear.

household insurance is usually the name of the package which combines third party liability insurance and content insurance. The former covers other peoples property the latter your own property.
