Dog Grooming Canton Schwyz (or Lake Zurich)?

Hi All,

I have a very fluffly English Springer Spaniel,

just a side note, he is a lover, he loves everyone and everything. He especially loves people.

We would always make a joke, if someone broke into our apartment, he would lick them instead of barking

Anyone know of an affordable groomer Around Horgen or all the way to Lachen?

I just dont want to drive to Zurich to get this hairy beast trimmed.

I dont mind doing it myself but the trimmer we use is useless with his super thick hair and he is unstable sometimes.

Looking for a cut & Shampoo.

Danke

I used one in Bàˆch, up round the back of the station, a couple of years ago, Yonca's Hundesalon? Something like that. They did an excellent job but very far from cheap (and also charged me 20 more than quoted). Whereupon I got a set of Osters and do it myself now! But their quality was superb.

Hi,

Might be a bit far for you but we use one at Meilen Hundesalon Lupo. Very friendly staff. Costs 95.00 chf for our Lhasa's to be shampooed and clipped.

Here is the link but hopefully you will find someone closer to home.

There is a new Klientirpraxis/Hundensalon that is now open in Kuessnacht am Rigi. 041 850 35 35

So if I was to say "someone" broke into your apartment? Are you reassuring it would be safe?

Darcy, if they charged 95.00 for a Lhasa, how much would they charge for my Bernese Sennenhund??

Susan, to give you an idea:

When Melon, a rough collie, came to me his coat was in a awful mess. Now, I normally DIY all my dogs, but I thought that because he was in such a terrible state I might try a groomer. Cost estimate was ca 400, but I assume it was so high because of all the matting. I was told that a regularly groomed rough collie would run in the CHF 150-200 range. I would think that a Bernersennenhund might be a tad less, as the undercoat isn't such an issue.

Which brings me to another question. In the end I chose not to have a groomer work on Melon because he was too nervous, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving him with a stranger. I inquired at several groomers, and none would allow the owner to be present during the grooming session - which set my alarm bells ringing.

Why won't a groomer allow the owner to assist, or at least to stay with the dog? I would think that having the owner right there would be a good thing, to calm the dog, etc. Afterall, my vets encourage me to assist in most procedures for just that reason.

Those of you who are groomers or who use groomers regularly - any insights?

ETA: My, how your puppy has grown! He's adorable.

Wow! I would NOT leave my "baby" with a stranger, unless I had personal experience and trust with them. Forget it.... another DYI for me!

Yes, he is adorable and BIG.

I trained as a groomer last summer in Dublin as part of my big plan to ditch corporate life and open a quality boarding/grooming centre over here. I'm currently mid way through the new Swiss diploma in breeding/grooming/kennel management. All my Irish grooming colleagues agree that dogs act up much more when the owner is present during grooming. As an owner of rescue dogs myself, I would understand an owner's concerns and personally I would be willing to try grooming with the owner present but I do think it would be easier and quicker if the groomer is left alone with the dog. I also think any reasonable groomer should agree to divide the work to be done over a number of visits to get the dog comfortable with him/her and the environment
