Doggy bags of poo left on kerbside

The first time I saw these here I was amazed but then realized the street sweepers that come through every few minutes pick them up for the lazy. In Basel we have many streets where the cans or any trash cans are not anywhere to be seen and leaving them in the street like that will asure that a sweeper picks them up

Street sweepers every few minutes?

Not sure whether I should laugh at you or groan. Any recommendations?

Reviving an old thread, but are they reducing the number of Robidog receptacles in Zurich? My local park used to have 4 of them, and now there are only two.

Wonder if there is a budget issue...

I noticed this all over Basle when i walked to Novartis each day. I was quite suprised that the council allow it to happen. I assume that people would have to put poo bags in a bin etc. At first i thought this was acceptable practice only because everywhere i walked there were little blue poo bags left by the kerbside. Until someone pointed out to me that your supposed to despose of your dog's poo in a responsible manner

I heard an interesting stastic once...that what France pays for..auhmm dog poo removal the entire nation of Canada pays for snow removal.

Thats a whole lotta SH*T!!

I did not want to create a new thread so I am giving this one a bump.

I have noticed this 1 guy a few eearly mornings...he has a rather small dog and he keeps leaving the dog poo bags (the yellow ones) in the street usually right next to where the sidewalk begins, this morning there was one at our doorstep...next time shall i tell him to pick it up or is this absolutely normal ? BTW he is no foreigner

Tell him that rabidog bags belong in the bin and not on the sidewalk ! Bloody inconsiderate twit.

I literally ran after this Swiss woman with a rabidog bag the other day. Her dog did a number on the grass and she strolled on by, yakking on her mobile thinking that there wasnt any one around. Cow. Gave her a dose of her own medicine by being very Swiss - telling her off and butting into her business. She went red in the face and apologised. My husband found it extremely hilarious (me running after someone with a poop bag) but I wasnt amused the last bit.

The only thing I can think to say is at least the shits in the bag, compared to countries where they leave it where it was laid... Thank Heavens for small mercies...

I've seen an old Swiss (I assume) lady walk down my street dropping the bags next to apartment front doors, and under the wheels of cars. I was too shocked to shout at her from my balcony but next time I will. EVen though it'll be in English I'll make sure she understands.

Seems odd to pick up the shit and put it in a small bag, just to dump it under car wheels where she knows someone will simply drive over it. I guess this is why there are so many rules in this country - people here don't care about anyone else or their environment, so they need to be told strictly what to do. Maybe "don't dump your little bags of dog shit on the pavement" hasn't yet been written.

I see this in our neighborhood too. People pick up the poo, bag it, and then just leave the bag there. And it's usually not many meters to the robodog receptacle or the trash bins. Don't quite get it. Do they think the magic poo fairy will sweep down at night and pick up all the bags?

I have seen the magic poo fairy, and she looks like this:

Once a dog released some semi liquid stuff inside the bus It was not pee pee but some funny @ss thing. Loose motion maybe? No the guy did not clean it.

Ewww poor guy LOL

Thanks guys, his passive-agressive behavior drives me crazy! (silly guy with poopie bags) Ill tell him next time my husband is not looking, he keeps saying I embarrass him with my directness LOL (said the Dutch guy!)

Some people are just idiots.

I take my mutt for a walk in a path used by cyclists and pedestrians. I didnt count but there must be at least 10 bins and 3 doggy bag holders in the space of 500 meters. At least people there always pick up after their dog. I have seen some left over s*** but always on the edge of the road. Not an excuse obviously...

In winter, these baggies are very useful. Instead of throwing them away, I stick them in my pockets and they keep my hands warm for about half an hour or so. Very comforting.

Only drawback is (at least for us forgetful oldies), when you stick your jeans into the washing machine and forget to remove the baggie from your last dog-walk first, then the result of the action could be somewhat less than "April fresh"

Lol! I prefer gloves but whatever works for you

Yes, this is awfull...please clean up the dogproduction!!!

I read this post awhile ago and have been doing my own informal investigation. I have two theories and would like to see if people agree...

1) People that have a red bag tied to the leash are advertising that the have a poop bag. These people are the ones that don't actually pick up - the firmly tied bad never leaves the leash.

2) The filled bags left on curbsides, etc. are actually a form of communication telling the city government to put a trash can near by.

I took my child to the pool yesterday and there was a major log of a poop on a pool side (4inch bastid). I wonder what communication was that.

Overall, I have been pretty impressed with the poop discipline in this country. I do worry about walking on the lawn, though, at times, a those are the secret poop some dog owners leave there since they are not as visible.

Bagged poop left on the curb is the communication, I think.

I assume not picking up poop to begin with is a character flaw - I never see people leaving their dog poop behind - so I started to speculate on other ways to identify them. I think the red bag tied tightly to the leash is the give away.
