As a cyclist, I often see many of these little bags of sh*t left on the kerbside - lots of 'em burst by passing vehicles and smeared everywhere. I dread the day the sh*t flies when I inadvertantly cycle over one
Why do dog owners do this? Is it too much trouble to take it with them until they can deposit in one of those dog waste bins?
I found one buried just under the surface of a sandpit in the "gemeinde zentrum" in Seefeld. Fortunately the toe of my trainer found the corner of the bag before my son's plastic spade did.
Also fortunately, the bag was still intact and nothing had appeared to have leaked out. Jay-sus some people are disgusting!
Used half a packed of nappy wipes cleaning my hands OCD stylie!
Just last Summer, we had to complain to our Regie about the state of the play area in our neighbourhood. The bin next to the area hadn't been emptied in ages, so all the wondrous doglovers just dropped their little bags next to it, about 3 feet from the sandpit. It was a disgrace and we even took pictures for proof. To their credit, it was cleaned up pretty sharpish afterwards.
Oh, I've personally witnessed one oldish English-speaking expat in Zug doing this in the middle of the town. He threw his bag on a flower bed. I was foolish enough to tell him there are dustbins everywhere, he made like he didn't know German and so I began speaking in English. His excuse was that the town council cleared the streets every morning. What kind of lame brain thinking is that? Zug practically has dustbins every 200m, for heaven's sakes.
I've taken walks with the dog and a filled poo bag for at least 400m in Cham before we came upon a bin. It didn't kill us.
You have every right to be upset. This is one of my pet peeves - and I say that as a dog owner. There is no excuse for not picking up, or for leaving the bags on the street/trail/flowerbed.
Robidogs: use them. It's that simple.
Owners like this give the rest of us - the 99% who are responsible dog owners - a bad name.
Never been a dog owner here in Switzerland but always scooped after our family pooch when I lived in the UK. You are right, it's the disgusting minority who give a bad name to the responsible majority.
In Paris, and, IIRC, Barcelona it's normal and accepted to throw your dog sh*t bag into the gutter to wait for the cleaners. In Paris, it's almost acceptable to let your dog foul the streets on the principle that they're cleaned every night.
It would be good if the local communities really clamped down on these offenders. Random dog poo police a couple of days a month would soon make these people aware of how expensive laziness can be.
More and more cities in the San Francisco area are providing poop bags, but they don't seem to attach them to garbage bins.
As I always have 4-5 bags stuffed in my pockets, I have been known to pick up random dog poop, on occasion. Not so hard to do, and if it keeps a few non-dog people from complaining, then it is well worth it...
When i had my 2 dogs (and believe me 1 did alot of big poo) i ALWAYS picked it all up then carried it to the next bin, there is no excuse for dog owners not to pick it up, if they don`t want to pick it up then they should not have a dog, and as for leaving it at the side of the road, or buried in a sandpit is just bloody disgusting in my book
