Donate Hair to Cancer?

Hi,

Is there anywhere near Zurich where you can donate your hair to Cancer wigs / patients? I need a haircut and my hair is very long so if I can, I would prefer to donate it.

Please PM me with details.

Thanks,

Angelica

I found this link.

If you follow all the correct instructions, I'm sure you can post it to the US...

Great, thank you!

I read that the Swiss League against Cancer has a list of Wig makers. Perhaps you could email them ?

Here is another organization that is based in the US. Again, similar to the Pantene organizaton I think that if you follow the instructions they will take your donation. A great cause!

I was thinking of getting a new look, thanks for posting!

Happy holidays everybody!

After many years my daughter has decided to cut her super long hair and donate them to kids in need...

Is there an update in Switzerland? any need or local organization?

I came across the US ones but I wondering if there is a local need.

thank you!

I did a quick google search for "Echthaar spenden" and found this

Thank you

According to this, synthetic hair is easier to care and most desired from what I understand

It says wigs made of synthetic hair of good quality and are hardly discernable from real hair. They are lght-weight and comfortable to wear, easier to care for and less expensive than real hair.

It does not say that wigs made of real hair are less desirable.

I used translator and the below argument made me think that materials have advanced since I checked on the topic like 20 years ago...

Thank you. I will translate it all

I don’t know of any resources here, but make sure the organization you donate to doesn’t then turn around and charge patients for the hair.

I had a synthetic wig 7 years ago when I had chemo. It was easy to care for, nice style and might well have been easier to manage than real hair. Certainly it never got static. At Swiss prices (nearly 1300 chf), luckily IV paid for it. It now lives on somewhere in Eastern Europe (i donated it).
