Has anybody done the freeride routes there? Are they any good!? Recommendations?

Thanks Eire. I rang round loads of places and am now heading to the Freeride routes at Flims as they were the only place with a spare bike! Guess you have to book pretty far in advance!
Try the Runca trail, its the one that goes from the top of the two lifts you take directly from Flims. Its a whole lot of fun.

Well....I did the Runca Trail @ Flims (thanks Eire)...
Even though it was quit wet, it was wicked and this is exactly the reason I moved the Switzerland! Because of the wet, the northshore was a whole lot of fun , which is where I managed to somehow launch myself head and shoulder first into a rock...about 5 foot down from the NS. Before that, I was having a really fast (for me) and smooth run, a little too confident some may say! Anyhow, got to the bottom, jumped on the cablecar to attack it again!
Does anybody have an opinion on whether Lenzerheide or Flims is better or are they completely different types of DH/Freeride? I'm hoping to go there in a couple of weeks...
(and after hiring a DH bike from Boarderworld, I NEED ONE! )
They are completely different. Lenzerheide is much more loose rock and in my opinion a little faster in general. There is no north shore like in Flims either. But both places have hundreds of other trails other then the main one which are well worth riding. I get bored riding the same trail all day and prefer to go ride more natural terrain away from the Freeride routes anyway.
Yeh, I asked the people at Boarderworld about the other trails and she said the lifts were all closed, which was a bit if a shame.
I agree with finding different places off the main trails with a little more "local knowledge", I guess I just want to get used to the new types of trails over here as its quite a lot more than what I'm used to! I'm going to have to join you guys on one of your rides soon!

Not necessarily. It means if you have a bike that you can pedal you take the lift up, ride and/or hike a little bit and you get some amazing trails with very few people and no braking bumps! In my opinion full DH bikes are overrated for the riding we have here, a good Enduro will get you far more varied riding and way more choice in the trails you ride. Now I can't wait for the 180mm travel trail bike I just ordered to arrive!

I'm keeping my current ride, they are both on opposite ends of the trail bike scale. One is better at climbing and the other at descending, but both can still do everything.
hot damn - almost have to trade my car in to afford that bike! sure you'll enjoy it!!!
I prob won't be back until next season riding again - depends on how the weather plays out and when my shoulder/ribs heal.

I was thinking about upgrading my Ransom, but it will only take a 190mm rear shock, and the linkage system won't allow for coil The equalizer shock is not doing it for me... DH/FR stuff can be quite harsh.
Anyhow, 190mm Fox DHX 5 Air could do the job, with a 36 Van up the front, and some fatt brakes

I was there today. Those new Cannondales rz one 40's with the new 140mm lefties are farkin beautiful and no probs with the right fork leg Eire .
Seriously there's some good stuff to see, well worth the trip.
It's ok... at the moment its my left fork leg that is more of an issue!
